Songpa rooftop Korean restaurant with a big screen: Color Bunsik

In short

Color Bunsik is a Korean snack restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, with a rooftop outdoor dining area and a huge screen. On a cool fall night, I leisurely enjoyed sundae, seasoned yaki mandu, and discounted craft beer as if I had booked out the place. Verdict: Color Bunsik is well worth revisiting for the view and rooftop-bar atmosphere.

Color Bunsik representative photo announcing a fall outdoor-dining visit

The crazy heat has finally eased up, and with a cool breeze drifting through in the mornings and evenings, it really feels like fall is here. I kicked off outdoor-dining season at Color Bunsik (칼라분식), my repeat-visit spot in Jamsil Saenae with a great view :)”

How to get to Color Bunsik

Come out of Jamsil Saenae Station Exit 2 or 3 and walk toward Saemaeul Market. It is 60 m from the market entrance, across from Minam Saengseon.

You do have to go into the market like this, so if you find yourself wondering, “Is this right?”—yes, you are absolutely going the right way 🤣

A retro exterior inside Saemaeul Market

It is the tallest and flashiest building in Saemaeul Market, so you will spot it quickly even if you look around!! The sign has such a retro old-movie-poster feel〰️

Rooftop reservations and the interior

The rooftop could have been full, so I reserved ahead through the Naver link. At 8 p.m. on the Saturday I visited, there were no guests on the second or third floors, while only two or three groups were using the rooftop.

Color Bunsik interior

It is a large building that uses a whopping four floors, from the first through the fourth. I diligently made my way up to the very top rooftop.

Keep climbing what feels like never-ending stairs… and you arrive at the rooftop, twinkling with lights!! The Jamsil view through the open ceiling was so lovely 🥹 With this view + this weather, anything would taste good,,💕

Of course, there is also a spacious indoor area with lots of tables, which would be perfect for company dinners or gatherings. Sure enough, private hire is available too ✔️

Rooftop terrace and basketball arcade game

There is a basketball arcade game in one corner of the terrace, so it is fun to compete while waiting for your food. Though if you throw badly, it feels like the ball might tumble off a cliff..

Walk inside from the terrace and you will find a self-service station. Pick up plates, cutlery, and danmuji (pickled yellow radish) here. They also have loads of thoughtful little blankets ready, so even a cold-sensitive person like me can enjoy outdoor dining without shivering〰️

The restroom is on the same terrace floor too!

Craft-beer discount information by day of the week

And here is Color Bunsik’s highlight ✨ They run craft-beer discount events by day of the week, so you can drink craft beer at a great price!!

Ordering sundae and seasoned yaki mandu

  • Seasoned yaki mandu ₩7,000
  • Sundae ₩8,000
  • 2 craft beers ₩9,000
  • Soju ₩6,000

We had tried the chicken on our previous visit, so this time we decided to try the Korean snack dishes. There is also a set with tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), sundae, and eomuk (fish cake) at a discounted price, but we had already eaten a filling first round, so we just ordered a little sundae and mandu. The craft beer was cheaper than soju, so there was no way we could skip it 👀

50% off craft beer Friday through Sunday

Two discounted craft beers

We each ordered one of the Friday–Sunday 50%-off beers: Legacy House Lager and Classic Reserve Lager. Neither was particularly sweet—just perfectly delicious, pleasantly bitter craft beer!!

Sundae mixed with offal and sweet mandu

I took a photo with the wide-open rooftop in the background. With the huge TV in front of us, it somehow felt like having tteokbokki delivered at home. We were outside, but it felt like a date at home—so lucky, right〰️

The sundae was not served carelessly—they thoughtfully mixed in all sorts of offal too 👍 I expected the seasoned yaki mandu to be tangy and spicy like bibim mandu, but it was sweet, coated in tteok-kkochi sauce. The scallion + onion topping added a little sharp kick 🔥

Sundae served with offal

Because it is a popular spot near Jamsil Baseball Stadium, it is usually packed with baseball fans having chicken and beer while watching the game on the huge screen. But for some reason there were not many customers that day, so we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest with the feeling that we had almost rented out the place-!

Rooftop watching fireworks festival footage

It was especially perfect because it was the day of the Yeouido Fireworks Festival, so we soaked up the outdoor-bar mood while watching the festival on YouTube💕 We are the classy ones for watching the fireworks comfortably in Jamsil instead of going to Yeouido (telling ourselves that to feel better 🤘)

My second visit to this Jamsil Saenae outdoor dining spot

Color Bunsik, the Jamsil outdoor-dining favorite I visited to welcome the season! Last time I stopped by on impulse while passing through, but this time I made a point of coming back. Both times, the rooftop terrace view was so impressive that I automatically went, “Wow—” the moment I stepped out. The route can be a little complicated because it is inside the market, but if you find it, that is 100% reason to walk straight in!!

The ultimate rooftop + terrace outdoor-dining spot, with daily half-price craft-beer deals, a huge screen, and blanket service that makes chilly weather no problem—a great atmosphere for dates and gatherings alike.
