Seongdong pasta restaurant for spoonable lasagna: Kongkase Seongsu

I’d like to introduce Kongkase Seongsu (콩카세 성수), with its floor-to-ceiling windows—such a pleasant place to visit in cool autumn weather like this.

It was near Exit 5 of Seoul Forest Station and Exit 8 of Ttukseom Station! Being on a corner with floor-to-ceiling windows, it was easy to spot, too!

Kongkase Seongsu: Basic Information

The address is 11 Wangsimni-ro 5-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea, and it is open daily from 11:30 to 21:30. Break time is 15:30–17:00 Monday through Friday and 16:00–17:00 on weekends.

What Is the Atmosphere Like for a Seoul Forest Date?

Inside the Restaurant

I heard it was featured on SBS's one of my favorite programs, Master of Living, for its masterful Beef Wellington lasagna.

The restaurant was generally clean and white-toned! Its defining feature was the huge tree in the middle of the dining room.

Thanks to that huge tree inside, Kongkase Seongsu almost made me feel as though I were dining in a forest!

There was also a huge bookcase along one side of the restaurant, and it created such a lovely mood! A restaurant with a bookcase feels a little more special than somewhere that is only about the food, don’t you think?

Because of that special atmosphere, this was a Seoul Forest pasta restaurant I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a date spot or a place for a blind date near Seoul Forest Station!

Kongkase Seongsu Menu and How to Order

At Kongkase Seongsu, you order by scanning the QR code on the table! Popular mains included Beef Wellington, lasagna, and potato gnocchi. There were plenty of other Italian-style dishes, too: white ragù pasta, funghi risotto, vongole pasta, wasabi cream pasta, clam wasabi pasta, jambon flatbread, shrimp flatbread, pork jowl kimchi purée, tomato salad, mushroom soup, and more.

Trying the Vongole Pasta and Lasagna

After careful deliberation, we ordered the vongole pasta and lasagna! Once we had ordered, warm bread arrived as a starter.

It was warm as if it had just come out of the oven—crispy yet chewy! It was studded with olives, and dipping it in balsamic olive oil brought out a deep flavor.

It was seasoned just right and really whetted my appetite! I found myself desperately waiting for the mains to arrive!

The vongole pasta and lasagna arrived at about the same time! Jalapeños and cucumber pickles were served alongside so we could enjoy everything with a clean, refreshing finish.

Vongole Pasta

This vongole pasta had a subtle buttery flavor alongside olive oil! The Manila clams lined up so neatly were adorable.

There was a generous tangle of pasta! A light sprinkling of cheese powder and parsley made it look even more appetizing.

There were lots of fresh Manila clams full of briny sea flavor! They were wonderfully chewy, and especially well purged of sand, so they were very clean-tasting.

It was light and clean-tasting, yet so appealing with its olive-oil aroma and full sea flavor! The noodles were cooked just right, the sauce had soaked in well, and it was delicious! Best of all, the portion was generous enough to leave me full!

Spoonable Lasagna

Unlike lasagna I have had elsewhere, this was a must-order dish at Kongkase Seongsu that you could scoop up with a spoon!

It was loaded with cream cheese alongside a rich tomato sauce! Even the arugula on top made for such an appealing combination!

They had been generous with good ingredients! This was Kongkase Seongsu’s special lasagna, with a wonderfully chewy texture and truly satisfying richness!

There was no skimping on that rich, thick sauce! Above all, it was absolutely loaded with cream cheese! The cream cheese that melted away in my mouth was incredible.

Why I Recommend It for a Seongsu Blind Date

The atmosphere was genuinely lovely enough for a date! The food also seemed to be prepared with real care, and both the pasta and lasagna had a special charm that felt a little different from what I had eaten elsewhere.
