Seongsu restaurant for kids and rubber duck omurice: Omil Seongsu
In short
Omil Seongsu is a Western-style restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul, known for cute rubber duck plating and family-friendly dining. After playing at Seoul Forest with my 17-month-old, we had the rubber duck omurice and a non-spicy salmon steak gnocchi; my little one ate well and smiled the whole time. Verdict: a delightfully cute, accommodating place for a meal with kids.

How much better can Seongsu-dong possibly get? It has become such a wonderful neighborhood to visit with babies. From parks to food, it has everything. If you are looking for somewhere to eat with your child in Seongsu-dong, I strongly recommend Omil Seongsu.

Omil Seongsu with my little one
Omil Seongsu is a restaurant that wins over even picky little eaters. Today, I stopped by this hot spot in Seongsu-dong with my 17-month-old.

It is such a lovely place that makes you smile from the exterior alone. Cute things really are eternally lovable, aren't they? And since even the restaurant concept is cute, the food was adorable too.

These days, before the weather turns cold, my little guy and I have been diligently going out on little adventures. Yesterday, while playing at Seoul Forest, he took a tumble and got his first little scrape. Dating this little guy is so much fun. ♥

Omil Seongsu is already well known among parents dining out with children. The plating is so cute and the food tastes so good that it has even won over foreign tourists. There is a nice variety of seating, but if you have a large group, make a reservation in advance to secure a table. Pickles and water are self-service at Omil Seongsu. The pickles are really delicious.

A space full of rubber duck charm
This is the first duck I've seen in a while since the Rubber Duck at Seokchon Lake. Lately, my little one and I have been reading books and making all kinds of animal sounds, so I was especially excited to visit a restaurant where ducks are the main event. Parents who get excited about showing their child a cute restaurant like this—you get me, right?

Even when it is busy, tables turn over quickly, and there is no break time, so it is easy to drop in whenever. Even the baby's meal tray is a cute rubber duck! Cute x 10,000,000. Going places with my child is bringing back so much of the cute sensibility I had forgotten about.

Rubber duck omurice and salmon gnocchi
Ttot Ttot Ttot Rubber Duck Omurice
Ttot Ttot Ttot Rubber Duck Omurice, ₩16,900. This is what I came for. ♥ Awww, it is soooo cute! Whoever developed this menu really deserves applause. At home, my little one has been spitting out quail eggs when I give them to him, but he ate every quail egg served at Omil. Maybe the adorable visual, like little duck eggs, was fun for him; watching him eat them himself made me realize once again that looks matter for children and adults alike... ahem. The rubber duck float is given to you for free, so we carefully brought it home. The omurice fried rice contained white kimchi, salmon, zucchini, and vegetables, with a slight ginger note.

Salmon steak gnocchi made to suit my child
Salmon Steak Gnocchi, ₩19,900. Gnocchi topped with salmon steak is such a fresh idea, isn't it? Salmon is an essential ingredient when dining out with a child. I feed it at home every day, but having someone else grill the salmon today was wonderfully easy. Capitalism really is the best. Above all, Omil's gnocchi has such a satisfyingly chewy center. And especially, the gnocchi cream is seriously... so delicious. It is thick and rich, with a curious but familiar flavor, a little like stir-fried kimchi mixed with mayonnaise and tuna. The sauce is normally a little spicy, but they made it without the heat for my child. Since there are so many guests with children, you can simply request this in advance.

Peach highball
Omil Signature Peach Highball, ₩8,900. When I visit a cute restaurant like this, I somehow want a pretty drink too. Hehe. I am perfectly happy having water with my food normally, but today was a day out for a meal with my child, so I sipped on a highball. It is a sparkling highball with peach pieces and a slight taste of alcohol. It was refreshing with the food even during the day. So good. Even the straw was cuuuute.

Maybe because I love cute things, but I absolutely loved Omil Seongsu's concept. As they say, if Mom is happy, the child is happy too—my little one ate well and stayed smiling the whole time.

Mealtime after the Seoul Forest playground
Well, it starts out all sweet and aesthetic, but the ending is big, right? Another wise dining-out moment with my child today. It is a little hectic, but I am finding so much more room to breathe now. Before coming here, we had run around and played at the playground for about 30 minutes. Maybe that is why he accepted bites so eagerly and even ate some by himself.

After a good lunch, we made our Seoul Forest stamp of approval today too—stamp, stamp, stamp. It was not intentional, but my little one's outfit happened to match the rubber duck today. Haha. Sitting on a garden chair with my baby, enjoying the breeze and tossing fallen leaves around, made me so happy. ♥
