Seongsu terrace brunch and nonalcoholic sangria: Billadeubeulleu

In short

Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a Western restaurant near Seoul Forest in Seongdong, Seoul. I tried the 22,000 won aligot cheese lasagna, 25,000 won Polpo Mambo, and 12,000 won nonalcoholic blue sangria. A lovely choice for brunch after a Seoul Forest walk.

I was out for a weekend walk around Seoul Forest when the cheese lasagna I had saved after seeing it on Instagram caught my eye, so I visited Billadeubeulleu Seongsu for lunch.

What are the exterior and terrace atmosphere like at Billadeubeulleu Seongsu?

Known as a brunch spot near Seoul Forest, Billadeubeulleu Seongsu had blue striped awnings and terrace seating that immediately made it feel like a European restaurant.

It felt instantly cool and refreshing, like I had come to a restaurant somewhere in Europe. On a nice day, eating at a terrace table would be lovely.

Indoor seating and Naver Reservation

Inside, there was a varied selection of seating, from tables for two and four to tables that could be joined for groups.

There were terrace seats and one-person window seats too, so it was a pleasant place whether you came alone or with a group. Even when I visited, it was fairly full with couples on dates, friends, and families eating with children. Naver Reservation is available, so I booked ahead and chose an indoor rather than outdoor table, then was shown to my reserved seat.

There was a shell-shaped object on the table, and I thought, what is this? When I turned it over, there was a QR code. You scan it to choose from the menu and order.

I didn't manage to photograph the menu, so I'll use the menu board out front instead, haha.

How was the aligot cheese lasagna?

This was the first dish to arrive. It was my first time having lasagna, and even more so, lasagna topped with cheese, so I was equal parts excited and curious. A staff member covered it in potato cheese right in front of me, and oh, the presentation was better than I expected. Just seeing that stretchy cheese made it look so appetizing that I couldn't help reaching for it.

Scooping up the lasagna sheets, sauce, and cheese together, I could taste the rich flavors in layers. If you come to Billadeubeulleu Seongsu, I really hope you try this one!!

The octopus was cooked tenderly, so it wasn't tough and was easy to chew.

Dipping the potatoes and peas into the sauce made for a combination with a lingering savory flavor, and it went well with the octopus too.

I don't really drink alcohol, but I wanted to join in the mood, so I ordered it. Its color was refreshing from the start and great for photos, and it was a nice light drink to have alongside the meal.

Receipt review-event ice cream

Ice cream with Maldon salt and crunch

They said you get ice cream for taking part in the Naver receipt review event, so I joined and received one. It was vanilla ice cream sprinkled with Maldon salt, with crunch underneath. The staff member explained it and even drizzled olive oil over it. At first I wondered what on earth this combination would be, but after trying it, it wasn't bad. The Maldon salt gave it a subtle sweet-and-salty balance.

Cheese lasagna and octopus dish meal

In one line: Billadeubeulleu Seongsu was a Seoul Forest date-course stop where I finally got to try the cheese lasagna I had only seen in Instagram photos. The cheese-pouring lasagna was great, but the tender texture of the octopus in the Polpo Mambo was memorable too. Next time, I'm curious about the pasta menu, so I'd like to return. Pairing Billadeubeulleu Seongsu with a walk around Seoul Forest would make for a wonderfully full day.
