Scallop uni oil pasta and truffle gnocchi lunch: Plate Dunsan, Daejeon

In short

Plate Dunsan Branch is a pasta and steak restaurant in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. At lunch, the writer ordered the steak set menu (pasta + skirt steak + salad + bread + soup) with the signature scallop uni oil pasta, plus truffle bacon cream gnocchi and ades on the side. The made-to-order fresh noodles stood out, and with floor-to-ceiling street-view windows and a group room, it works well for both a date and a gathering.

You can use the basement parking in Plate's building — dining gets you 2 hours free. It was full when we went, so we used the Galleria Timeworld department store parking lot instead. Plate Dunsan Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Galleria Timeworld.

A little walk and there it is — Plate Dunsan Branch. It's on the 2nd floor, so take the stairs or the elevator^^

Window street-view interior and the lunchtime vibe

Inside Plate Daejeon, you get a lush street tree view through the huge window walls. Isn't it so pretty? The monochrome, sleek interior adds a touch of luxury — I could see why it's a popular Daejeon date spot.

We came during lunchtime, and even then half the tables were already full. A little while later, a lot more people came in. It can get a long wait when full, so check the time before you go^^ A wide range of ages, and lots of families too.

There's a separate room that can fit a group, so it's great for gatherings too.

They have baby chairs too, of course. A great Daejeon pasta and steak restaurant to bring kids to.

What we ordered and how much

True to a Daejeon pasta spot, there's a huge variety on the menu? The menu board was a bit confusing, honestly. They give you ice cream for a receipt review too, so don't forget to leave one^^

We ordered the steak set menu plus an extra gnocchi. (pasta + skirt steak/pork ribs + salad + bread + 2 soups) The set menu is apparently 15% cheaper than ordering à la carte. Choosing the signature pasta option within the set adds ₩4,000.

Bushman bread, soup, and salad

First out came the bushman bread with soup and salad. The salad had a variety of vegetables and a tangy sauce that really got the appetite going. The homemade corn soup was nutty and sweet.

Green grape ade and lemon ade. The green grape ade was sweet and refreshing, and the lemon ade was tangy and zippy, cutting through richness nicely.

Truffle bacon cream gnocchi

The gnocchi was pan-fried to a golden brown — crisp outside, moist inside — with thick smoked bacon and big chunks of mushroom, all coated in a rich, thick cream sauce with truffle aroma on top. A genuinely luxurious-tasting truffle bacon cream gnocchi.

Skirt steak

A golden-seared skirt steak came out paired with grilled cabbage, mashed potato, and whole grain mustard sauce, all working well together. True to a Daejeon steak spot, it was cooked well-done, but still juicy, nutty, and chewy in the best way — I really enjoyed it.

Scallop uni oil pasta and choosing the fresh noodle

We also ordered the scallop uni oil pasta on top. We went with the standard noodle No. 1. At Plate Dunsan Branch, you can pick your fresh noodle to your taste. Since it's a fresh-noodle pasta place, make sure you get a pasta dish while you're there.

The scallop uni oil pasta had that distinct nuttiness and soft texture of fresh noodles, paired with fresh vegetables, uni, scallops, and other seafood with great texture — the umami just exploded. Super delicious.

Plate Dunsan Branch — good for a date or a gathering?

Great atmosphere, clean space, and a menu with plenty of variety, all with a touch of luxury — Plate Dunsan Branch. I'd recommend this Daejeon pasta restaurant without hesitation for a date spot or a group gathering.
