Today I'm writing about a Dunsan-dong, Daejeon pasta and steak restaurant with great vibes and great value, where you can customize your pasta noodles to your taste [ Plate Dunsan Branch ].

Where is Plate Dunsan Branch, and what facilities does it have?

Plate Dunsan Branch is near Galleria Timeworld in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, in the building next to Rodeo Motel. It has a baby chair, group seating, and even an indoor restroom.

So many people get confused finding it that there's a signboard standing right in front of Rodeo Motel pointing the way, haha.

The building is nicely decorated from the 1st floor up, and once you go up to the 2nd floor you see this clean exterior. There's an elevator too, of course.

How do you pick your own pasta noodles at Plate Dunsan Branch?

For the pasta, you can choose fresh noodles or dried noodles to your taste, and even pick the specific noodle type within that. The number next to each menu item on the order sheet is the recommended noodle number for that dish. I ordered the steak set with scallop uni oil pasta.

Inside Plate Dunsan Branch: atmosphere and the private group room

The interior of Plate Dunsan Branch is super classy and clean. KBS actually came in to film that day? It's barely been open long and it's already famous as a Daejeon restaurant, a Dunsan-dong restaurant... I thought they were YouTubers or something, but KBS!

The restaurant is spacious and even has a separate private group room, so it's also a good fit for a Dunsan-dong lunch get-together or a Dunsan-dong pasta meetup.

Once you sit at the table you want, a staff member kindly explains how to order for first-time visitors.

You just write it down in pencil, and there's an eraser too so feel free to change your mind as much as you like, haha.

The soup and bread came out first.

The bread tasted exactly like the bread I used to have at Outback, so it was a welcome surprise, haha. The salad dressing was also the kind I like, so I enjoyed that a lot too. As for the soup... I scraped the bowl clean. I was a little embarrassed I scraped it that thoroughly, haha.

After the oil pasta and steak, they also serve a refreshing soda to cleanse the palate.

What the scallop uni oil pasta tastes like

Everything I ordered arrived.

This is the scallop uni oil pasta.

It came topped with hongagari clams (pink cockles) and had a slightly spicy kick that was delicious. Compared to other oil pastas I know, this scallop uni oil pasta had a slightly richer, thicker feel.

I wanted to eat it right away but was stuck taking photos instead — my hands got faster and faster, haha.

I tried the pasta together with the scallop. The oil pasta had that rich, thick texture but was so good. There was zero greasy feeling — it was savory and salty in a way that kept my hand reaching for more, haha. It was like a shrimp cracker of a dish.

The steak was cooked exactly to the doneness I like, so I enjoyed it a lot. Naturally it was soft and delicious while hot, and it was still tasty even after it cooled down while I chatted away with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. I think they called that the potato sauce... they explained it to me but I was too busy taking photos to catch it fully, haha. Eating it together with the sauce that came with it was sweet and delicious.
