Hello 🫠 Today's post is about Plate Dunsan Branch :) I wanted some Western-style food like pasta or risotto in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, so I headed to Plate! It's right in Dunsan-dong so it was easy to get to, and the interior was clean and tidy — a good spot to eat and chat at a relaxed pace haha.

Where is Plate Dunsan Branch, and what does it look like?

Plate Dunsan Branch is on the 2nd floor of 34 Dunsan-ro 31beon-gil, Seo-gu, Daejeon. PASTA, PIZZA, and STEAK are printed on the outside of the building, so you can tell exactly what kind of menu they serve at a glance.

These are photos I took while walking over to the restaurant. It's tucked in a Dunsan-dong alley, so it was fun to look around while finding it, and the entrance area was neatly kept too. The whole exterior felt clean, so it seemed like a good place to drop in for a casual meal. Since they sell pizza and steak alongside pasta, it also seemed like a good spot for a group where everyone can pick their own dish. 👍

Inside Plate Dunsan Branch: window seats and high chairs for kids

The interior of Plate Dunsan Branch was bigger and cleaner than I expected. Tables were arranged along the windows, with two-person tables and larger tables for groups further inside. The overall mood was bright and calm, and framed art on the walls kept it from feeling too bare. The spacing between tables wasn't cramped either, so it was comfortable to chat while eating haha. With seating all the way to the back, the place looked really spacious!

I especially liked the window seat haha. With a big window looking out at trees outside, there was no stuffy feeling while eating. On a nice day, sitting by the window would probably make the mood even better!

On one side, several baby chairs were set up too. It seemed like they were prepared so that families visiting with kids could use the space comfortably! The restaurant itself is clean and has a variety of table types, so it looked like a good spot not just for dates but also for family meals or gatherings with friends.

What comes with the set: salad, soup and pre-meal bread

At Plate Dunsan Branch, switching to a set menu gets you soup, salad, and pre-meal bread too haha (highly recommend the set!). The menu had pasta, pizza, steak, and a wide range of other Western dishes. There were way more options than I expected, so it took some thinking to decide what to order. This time we decided to split several dishes and ordered pasta and risotto!

Since I ordered the set, the salad, soup, and bread came out first before the main dishes! The salad had various vegetables and baby leaf greens mixed together, so it was light and easy to eat. The mix of ingredients gave it a nice variety of textures, and it was good for waking up the appetite before the main dish 👍 The soup came out too — it had a mild, smooth taste that was easy to eat without feeling heavy. Starting with warm soup felt like it settled the stomach before the meal properly began. The bread came on a wooden board, served with a whipped cream sauce for dipping.

The salad's vegetables were crisp and the colors were pretty, so it looked nice in food photos too. The bread was cut into bite-sized pieces that were easy to eat, and paired well with the sauce that came alongside. Having these light bites ready before the main dishes arrived meant the wait wasn't boring at all. 🤤

How the white vongole pasta and steak cream ragù tasted

📍White clam pasta (₩10,900) The clam pasta was clean-tasting and delicious! I actually love clam pasta, and this was my first time trying it here — it was definitely tasty and smooth haha. I ordered it with the noodles switched to standard pasta noodles!

📍Steak cream ragù (₩15,900) The steak cream ragù is the dish I order every single time I come to Plate..! The steak was tender and the cream-based pasta was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the steak cream ragù pasta 👍

Creamy rosé risotto: swapping the pasta noodles for rice

📍Creamy rosé risotto (₩10,900) This was my first time ordering risotto here — you just switch the noodle option to risotto! It was really delicious..! But the rosé sauce itself was so good that I think it would also taste great with regular pasta noodles, so next time I want to try it that way :)

Is Plate Dunsan Branch good for sharing three dishes?

Like in the last photo, laying out two kinds of pasta and a risotto together filled the whole table and felt like a proper full meal. Each dish had a different color, so the photos came out pretty, and it was great to order several dishes and share them around. 🍀

Plate stood out not just for the food but for how clean the restaurant atmosphere felt, so it wasn't stressful to linger over the meal. I personally loved the window seat for the view outside, and the overall calm mood made it seem like a good spot for a date or a meal with friends.

If you're looking for Western food like pasta, pizza, or steak in Dunsan-dong, this is a good place to check out. Ordering several dishes to share worked well, and going through the bread, salad, soup, and main dishes in order made for a satisfying, filling meal. Plate is a great spot in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon when you want a clean-looking Western restaurant or want to eat pasta and risotto together‼️ Next time I want to try the pizza and other pasta dishes I didn't get to this time haha.
