40cm Tuumba calzone for two at Someday Romance, Daejeon brunch café

I'm introducing Someday Romance in Dunsan-dong, a great-atmosphere spot for a Daejeon brunch date. It has a spacious interior plus an exotic outdoor area, so you get a totally different vibe right in the middle of the city. I loaded up on the 40cm Tuumba calzone, a salad, coffee, and a mango smoothie — came back very full!

Today I visited Someday Romance, a brunch café and restaurant in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon. It's right in the middle of Dunsan-dong, but once you step inside it's much bigger than you'd expect, with a distinctive vibe that reminded me of a Southeast Asian resort. Pasta, pizza, risotto, salads, coffee and drinks are all available in one place, so it's a great pick if you're looking for a Daejeon brunch date spot. Where is Someday Romance, and what are its hours and parking?

Someday Romance is on the 6th floor of Save Zone at 201 Dunsan-ro, Seo-gu, Daejeon. It's open 10:30–21:00 and closed on Mondays.

The restaurant is inside the Save Zone building in Dunsan-dong, near Gukhwa Apartments and Clover Apartments. It's on the 6th floor, so just take the elevator up. Parking was easy too — there's plenty of space on basement levels 3 and 4. Business hours are posted on the front door, and remember it's closed on Mondays.

Indoor and outdoor space combined, Someday Romance comes in at about 200 pyeong, making it one of the larger brunch cafés in Dunsan-dong. The first thing that caught my eye walking in was the distinctive interior.

Lots of rattan and wood, with plants placed throughout, gave the whole space a Southeast Asian resort feel — quite different from your typical Dunsan-dong café, which makes it a nice pick for a date.

The outdoor space in particular was huge. In the center there's an area styled like a pond, complete with a fountain, plants, and stone decorations, which made for great photos. Around it are individual dome-shaped seats, so on a nice day it looks like a great spot to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere.

There's also a private group room available by reservation. On one side they've set up high chairs, blankets, and bibs for families with kids, plus umbrellas for the outdoor seating.

How to order at Someday Romance and what's on the menu

Orders at Someday Romance go through the kiosk in the center of the restaurant. After ordering, you check your number and pick up the food yourself.

There's a full lineup of brunch dishes — pasta, risotto, pizza, calzone — plus a wide variety of drinks and teas. The display case also had cakes, great for dessert with coffee after your meal.

When your number is called, head to the pickup counter; the return counter is on the opposite side. It runs on a self-service system overall. There's a self-service parking payment kiosk next to the return counter, so don't forget to settle your parking on the way out!

Here's what I ordered: the 40cm Tuumba calzone, grilled chicken salad, an Americano, and a mango smoothie.

Side dishes and extra tableware are self-serve. The banchan (side dishes) were diced radish kimchi and pickles — just scoop them into the small dishes provided. Each table comes set with small plates, forks, knives, tongs, and a menu.

40cm Tuumba calzone, 21,900 won: is it enough for two?

The dish I was most looking forward to was the 40cm Tuumba calzone (₩21,900). It's meant for two, and the portion was generous.

True to its name, a really large calzone sits on top of the Tuumba pasta, so it made quite an impression the moment it arrived. It's a dish where you get a half-moon-shaped pizza stuffed with a special ragu sauce alongside spicy pasta.

The outside of the calzone was browned nicely in spots, and next to it was a generous serving of orange, creamy Tuumba pasta. Mushrooms, broccoli, and tomato were mixed in too, so instead of just a heavy sauce it was fun to eat with all the ingredients.

The pasta had a soft, rich cream sauce with a subtle kick of spice that kept me going back for more. You can eat the calzone and pasta separately, but tearing off pieces of calzone and dipping them in the Tuumba sauce worked even better together. Being able to enjoy pizza and pasta in one dish is definitely this menu's biggest draw.

Grilled chicken salad, 12,900 won

The grilled chicken salad is ₩12,900. It's a salad piled high with fresh vegetables, topped generously with nicely grilled chicken in the middle.

Cherry tomatoes, corn, and red cabbage among other vegetables made it colorful too. It was topped with plenty of cheese and sauce, so it felt more like a full meal than a light salad.

With so much chicken, eating it alongside the vegetables was filling, and pairing it with the rich Tuumba calzone worked well since it refreshed the palate in between bites. If two people are visiting, ordering one Tuumba calzone and one salad to share made for a fully satisfying combo.

Americano and mango smoothie

The Americano is ₩5,000 and the mango smoothie is ₩6,500. The Americano is said to have a bold flavor with fruity sweetness and hints of brown sugar in various flavor notes. It wasn't too heavy to drink alongside the brunch dishes, making it a clean pairing.

If you like mango, I'd also recommend the mango smoothie. It was rich and sweet overall, and you get to eat the mango on top too, which made it even more satisfying. They also give you a cute heart-shaped straw.
