Once I knew that, it made total sense why the greenery outside matched the space so well. It has the relaxed feel of a café but a slightly more upscale touch than a typical brunch spot! In fact, they said it's a popular choice for wedding-invitation gatherings, dates, and family meals — occasions where atmosphere matters.

What the exterior looks like

Bueokgan's exterior feels quite different from the typical strip-mall restaurants around Suwan district. The big awning and brick give it the look of a restaurant you'd find on a European street, and the front area also has a relaxed vibe, making it great for a photo even before you walk in. Especially on a nice day, the green scenery outside makes the whole atmosphere even prettier.

Personally, I really loved the interior atmosphere at Bueokgan. There's a big picture window set up so you can clearly see the trees of Sumun Park next door, and with the green scenery pouring in, sitting inside almost feels like being at a forest restaurant! During the day, natural light makes it bright and relaxed, and in the evening, soft lighting seems to shift it into a more romantic mood.

Why the furniture and lighting look so good

This clearly wasn't a case of just placing some nice-looking furniture around — every corner of the space felt thought through. Apparently they use furniture from Vitra and Artek, along with Louis Poulsen lighting.

Maybe that's why the chairs, tables, and lighting don't stand out individually but blend naturally into an overall color and mood.

Which seats have the best atmosphere?

The window seats have a pretty green view, while the inner seats have a different feel thanks to the lighting, so each spot has a slightly different mood. Once the food arrives on the table, the photos turn out great too, so it's good for dates when you want photos, and also nice for a good-atmosphere meal with friends. I get why it's such a popular pick for a good-atmosphere restaurant in Suwan district, haha.

Bueokgan's menu centers on pasta and pizza, but also has a good range with risotto, gnocchi, lasagna, and even steak. If you want something lighter, there's salad and soup, and if you're with a group, ordering one pizza plus a few different pastas to share works really well! In particular, the pastry soup, basil pesto cream pasta, lasagna, Kung Pao chicken pilaf, and jambon pizza are said to be the restaurant's signature recommended dishes.

How three of us combined our order

We ordered three things: rucola pizza, vongole pasta, and seafood tomato pasta :) One pizza, plus one oil-based pasta and one tomato-based pasta, so the sauces wouldn't overlap — a perfect combination for three people to take turns eating 🫶

Rucola pizza (arugula pizza)

First up, the rucola pizza! It's piled high with rucola (arugula), so it's green from the very first look, haha. The saltiness of the prosciutto and the fragrant, slightly bitter taste of the rucola come through together, making it feel fresher than a typical cheese pizza. It's also a nice dish to grab a slice of in between bites of pasta :)

Vongole pasta

Second, the vongole pasta. A clean oil-based pasta with the savory taste of clams coming through, it went well with the rucola pizza and was also nice to alternate with the tomato pasta.

This is a good pick for people who prefer a light, clean pasta over something with a heavy sauce.

And the seafood tomato pasta! With seafood in the tomato sauce, it had good savory depth and was rich enough to stand out as the boldest-tasting dish of the three.

Pairing the clean vongole with the rich tomato pasta turned out to be a great combination.
