Bupyeong sushi buffet with soup en croûte: KuuKuu Gold

You know those places with so many choices—from sushi and all kinds of hot food to sweet desserts—that your chopsticks just cannot stop? Today, I’m sharing my lively review of KuuKuu Gold Bupyeong Branch, a dangerously addictive restaurant in Bupyeong that is absolutely worth visiting even if you have to brave the wait.

A long wait on discount-coupon day

The moment the elevator doors opened on the ninth floor, there was such a huge crowd that I could barely believe my eyes, haha. It happened to be a day to use a Guguday discount coupon, so there were no joke amounts of parties waiting. That is the level of popular KuuKuu Gold Bupyeong Branch! The wait was long, but thinking about the delicious sushi made me even more excited to wait!

There was a clear price board standing right in front of the entrance. It carefully listed weekday lunch and dinner prices, plus weekend and public-holiday prices, so it was perfect for checking before going in. Looking at it while waiting made my determination to get my money’s worth today shoot right up, haha.

A spacious, comfortable dining room

Once inside, the spacious and comfortable dining room immediately caught my eye. Even with so many people, there was plenty of space between tables, and everything was kept very neat and clean. The staff were also so kind, clearing empty plates right away as they passed by, so I was in a great mood from the start, haha.

The sushi and gunkan sushi corner

The second I reached the sushi corner, my eyes went wide and my feet naturally stopped, haha.

There were so many kinds, from all my favorite sushi to visually stunning gunkan sushi (battleship-style sushi)! It was packed with sushi varieties that are hard to find normally, so I happily agonized for ages over where my chopsticks should go first.

Starting light with soy-marinated shrimp and salad

Before getting into the main sushi, I started lightly with soy-marinated shrimp and salad! Having salad first left my mouth feeling much cleaner, so I could taste the sushi itself even better. Everything tasted wonderfully fresh, and I was so satisfied. With fresh soy-marinated shrimp and sweet-tangy salad, my mouth was happy even before the meal really began. It is perfect for refreshing your palate before sushi.

Salad-bar dishes beyond sushi

I thought this was simply a great sushi spot, but it was truly a great salad bar too! Delicious dishes kept appearing: soup en croûte, where cracking the crisp pastry is part of the fun, tender grilled salmon, and nicely browned mushrooms. It was such a tempting corner that I filled my plate before even getting to the sushi. There is such a variety that I think it would be perfect to enjoy together even with someone who is not very into sushi!

I started with sushi and successfully checked off pizza and tacos too!

The selection was so diverse that even after just a plate or two, I was incredibly full. It was filled with nothing but tasty dishes, so I ate heartily and happily until the very end!

Drinks and desserts too

They had everything from all kinds of tea for a refreshing drink after the meal to cold beverages! Being able to try a variety of things to suit my taste, from the beginning of the meal through after-dinner drinks, made it a perfect meal to the very end.

I made sure to have sweet doughnuts and waffles, plus fluffy cake. It was a happy dessert time filled with sweetness.

They had fresh fruit and crispy fried items all ready too! There was practically nothing they did not have, and choosing what to eat was so much fun.

Chocolate fondue you have to eat, even when full

Here comes the ultimate sweet treat: chocolate fondue! Dipping all kinds of crispy biscuits generously in chocolate was pure happiness... You really have to eat this no matter how full you are!

The tako wasabi that made me get another plate

Now it is finally time to eat~ I only meant to take tiny tastes of everything, but is it just me, or does my plate look like it is about to overflow...? 😂 There are still so many dishes I have not tried, and I am already excited!

Personally, the tako wasabi (octopus with wasabi) and sushi were really delicious! I fell for their sharp, fresh flavor, so after clearing my plate neatly, I was planning to go get another one right away.

After making sure to have my final desserts too, I truly had no room left at all, which was such a shame. There was so much delicious food, but I could not eat it all... It was a day when I wished I could be like Tzuyang and never get full, haha.
