Exterior and outdoor space of Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch

I went to Gimpo for the first time in a while over the weekend. There are so many good restaurants in Gimpo, right? This time I was searching for Guraedong restaurants and found Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch. It was bigger than I expected and the outdoor space was so well put together that I was in a good mood the moment I walked in ^^

Spacious parking lot right behind the restaurant

The parking lot was really spacious and right behind the restaurant, which was so convenient. That kind of small detail matters a lot when you're bringing kids or hosting guests.

The first thing that caught my eye when we arrived was the outdoor garden. I expected a regular BBQ place, but right from the entrance there was a wide lawn with tables and awnings set up, giving it a completely different vibe from a typical grilled meat restaurant. It almost felt like visiting a pension, and I thought it'd be nice to relax outside for a bit after eating on a nice day.

A spacious interior

The inside was also quite spacious. There were various seating options from tables for four to group seating for many people, and the seats were separated by partitions, so it felt like being in your own independent space.

Kids' play room

Play room space for children
Arcade machines set up in the play room

The play room had arcade machines and other things for kids to play with, which seemed pretty useful for anyone visiting a BBQ restaurant with children.

Self-serve bar

Neatly maintained self-serve bar

We also used the self-serve bar, and it was kept remarkably clean.

Sign for the seasoned galbi takeout event

There's a takeout event for seasoned galbi too — apparently 4 servings for ₩29,800 with cash payment. Thinking back now, I really should have picked one up to take home. I regretted it so much once we got back home, haha.

Basic side dishes, plus crab marinade

It was unusual to see ganjang gejang (soy-marinated crab) among the basic side dishes. Other than that, they were the usual side dishes you get at a BBQ restaurant. But the most important thing is how the meat tastes, so I put my hopes there!! I'm a beef person, so I ordered beef galbi as our base.

A plate of ordered beef idong galbi

Since I wanted to try different kinds of meat, I asked a staff member for a menu recommendation, and they suggested the seasoned pork galbi. So we ordered one serving of that too.

Additional order of one serving of seasoned pork galbi

Idong galbi dipped in raw egg

We started grilling the beef first. As soon as the ribs hit the grill, that delicious smell rose up — the start of grilling really is the most exciting part, haha.

Individual bowls of raw egg served to each guest

A staff member recommended dipping the meat in raw egg. They gave each of us our own raw egg, and at first I was worried it might taste strange. But once I actually tried it — oh, it turned out to be a surprising delicacy? The sweet-savory flavor of the seasoned galbi paired with the rich, smooth taste of the egg, and it felt like discovering an unexpected new world~

Ribs picked clean down to the bone

And of course, ribs are all about gnawing the meat off the bone, haha. I picked every last bit of meat off the bone.

Next up was grilling the seasoned pork galbi. Pork takes a bit longer to cook than beef, so we flipped it slowly to keep it from burning. Since marinated meat tends to stick to the grill easily, it's better to swap out the grill plate once you've eaten a certain amount before grilling more pork galbi.

The seasoned pork galbi the staff recommended was genuinely delicious. I'm usually a beef person so I didn't expect much, but I was totally won over. The meat was so soft and tender it was easy to eat, and the seasoning wasn't too sweet, so it tasted great even on its own. On top of that, the price was reasonable, making it easy to enjoy without any guilt.

Dessert: naengmyeon and ureong doenjang stew

₩3,000 ureong doenjang stew

Don't underestimate the popular ureong doenjang stew just because it's only ₩3,000!! With mud snails inside, the broth was refreshing, with a subtle spicy kick from the cheongyang chili peppers, and the seasoning was spot on — I let out an admiring sigh with my very first spoonful.

A small bowl of dessert-size naengmyeon

There's a meal-size naengmyeon and a dessert-size naengmyeon, with a ₩3,000 price difference. Since we'd already eaten a lot of meat, we ordered the dessert-size one. But... once it arrived, it really was tiny. It's a reasonable portion for a light dessert, of course, but since I love naengmyeon, my husband and I shared it and finished every last drop of broth, hahaha.

Final thoughts

Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch was great with its easy parking and spacious interior, but above all, the meat itself was genuinely satisfying. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant with a great atmosphere and great taste for a family meal or a get-together, I'd recommend Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch.
