Gangnam hair salon pre-wedding layered cut: Beorn Hair Cheongdam
In short
Beorn Hair Cheongdam is a hair salon near Gangnam-gu Office Station in Gangnam, Seoul. One week before the wedding, I had damaged ends cared for with a Rebuild hair clinic treatment and my length adjusted for a low bun, finishing with a scalp treatment in the spa room and a blow-dry. Verdict: a great pick for tidying up both length and damaged hair before the big day.

Before the wedding: a layered cut and hair clinic instead of a perm
With the wedding seriously, seriously right around the corner, I was SO busy—going to work, preparing for the wedding, buying clothes and buying all the things I needed. But one thing I absolutely could not skip was a trip to the hair salon!
I'd done a layered cut last April and had only been growing it out since, so it had become all fluffy again. My hair had grown back past my waist, and if I went into the ceremony like that, it was obvious they would have to cut it when setting my hair at the salon on the day. But wedding makeup salon... prices... wedding premium... hehe...
So even though there was only a week left until the ceremony, I decided to quickly get my hair tidied up and looked around. The place I visited today was Beorn Hair Cheongdam.
I came after work, so I took the Bundang Line. Come out of Exit 4 at Gangnam-gu Office Station, turn right at the intersection toward the main road, and walk a little; Beorn Hair is on the second floor of the building with the Bidan Beam hanbok shop.

I did want a perm, honestly, but with the wedding coming up, I felt a little nervous about doing too much to my hair. So this time I decided to keep my existing layers with a cut and get the Rebuild hair clinic treatment for my very damaged ends instead.

A bright, comfortable Beorn Hair Cheongdam in white tones
This is the inside of Beorn Hair Cheongdam. It felt open and comfortable, and the warm white-toned interior was clean and lovely! They confirmed my reservation, and after I sat down to wait for a moment, the designer came over to introduce himself with his business card.
My stylist today was Designer Seonjun! You can select a designer when booking on Naver, and they are currently running a 40% first-visit event too. A tall, well-proportioned handsome stylist... ☆★

Checking length and damage before the service
Checking my hair length before the service, check check. I definitely... had it cut to around above-chest length, but five months later it had almost completely grown back. My hair does grow quickly, but it seems like it grew especially fast this time.

My ends were much more damaged than I expected, too. Rather than being the aftermath of a previous service, I think it was from frequently blow-drying to make my hair look pretty afterward, which really damaged the ends.
They say directing the airflow from top to bottom when drying your hair causes less damage. Me? I am absolutely someone who dries it in the opposite direction.
From protein care to a scalp massage in the spa room
We decided to start with the hair clinic treatment, so off to the shampoo room we go. My forehead is not normally this vast, okay? Please excuse the Galaxy lens distortion. After shampooing, they evenly applied protein to my hair as the first treatment! It felt so nice as they brushed it through and applied it.

After the application, I had to leave it for about five minutes so it could absorb. Some salon chairs make the back of your neck ache if you lie down for too long, but Beorn Hair's chair was SO comfortable. I almost fell asleep.

First care done! After rinsing it out with shampoo, I moved to the table seating in the center of the salon, where they brought snacks and got me ready for the second treatment. They gave me the iced Americano and cookies I asked for, but after one sip, I somehow lost track of where it went, which made me so sad... sob.

The second treatment was another round of protein care. This time, they added protein particles that were a little smaller than in the first round.

They even used heat treatment so the proteins could bind together better inside the hair~ I really loved that they explained in detail why they were doing each step and what effect it would have.

Lastly, plenty of steam to replenish moisture. That finished the second treatment! But it wasn't over yet.
For the third treatment, I moved to the spa room. It was my first time ever experiencing a salon spa room haha. Soft music was playing like at a massage shop, and it looked similar to a shampoo room, except the chair was a massage chair rather than a regular one.
I received care here too, along with the massage chair massage, a scalp massage, and acupressure on the back of my neck, so I got really sleepy... I nearly fell asleep. My scalp felt incredibly refreshed afterward! It was like putting mint candy on my head—super tingly and cool, yet refreshing.

Length and volume adjusted for a low bun
After finishing all three rounds of care, cue the fugitive look! Now, time to dry my hair for the cut, go go. Since I had makeup on, they kindly gave me a face cover too. With it on, they dried my hair from both sides, whoosh whoosh.

This was my original length. I had quite a lot of layers: the shortest section sat a little above my armpits, while the longest reached my waist when swept back and slightly below my bust when brought forward.
We measured here and there and discussed with the designer how much length to take off. Since my wedding is coming up and I am planning a low bun for the ceremony, I mentioned that, and naturally, as a professional, he recommended the perfect, sensible length.
Honestly, I do not have a particularly strong sense of self when it comes to beauty, and my personal motto is that professionals are professionals for a reason, so I just went, “I trust you—please take care of it!”

He carefully divided my hair into sections and got to cutting. His hands were quick, so it was over in no time and there was no chance to get bored. He checked along the way whether the length was okay, so I could keep an eye on it too, which was great.
Once the length cut was done, we thinned out the volume too! My hair is seriously, seriously, seriously thick enough to be in the top 1% in Korea, so of course I know having more is much better than having less—but without thinning it out, my hair feels so heavy... Just removing some volume makes it feel completely different, and after shortening it and thinning it out, it felt so light and fresh. Loved it.
A light blow-dry finish with layered C-curls
I did not have any particular plans today and was going straight home after my hair appointment, but when you come to a salon, it would be a shame not to get a professional blow-dry, right? So he gave it a light blow-dry too! It definitely felt completely different from when I do it myself. Even with just a light blow-dry, my hair looked so pretty.

Maybe because I got the clinic treatment, my hair felt much silkier too. I had worried that the bun would be too large before, but now it ties up at just the right size, which I love hehe.

Maybe because I mentioned that my wedding is next week, they gave me some cute samples as a gift when I was leaving. The little bag is so cute and adorable >.O

Even though only the very ends of my perm remain, the cut was done so well that it dries into neat layered C-curls as if I had just gotten a new perm. I am very, very happy with today's hair. If you want a layered cut and a refreshing head spa all at once, I recommend visiting Beorn Hair Cheongdam ^ㅡㅡㅡㅡ^
