Gangneung Sand Main Branch is a Gangneung souvenir dessert shop on Seonggokgoyang-gil 5beon-angil in Gangneung, Gangwon. While traveling around Gangneung and trying to figure out what travel gift to bring back for family and friends, this is the place I discovered!

Gangneung is famous for coffee, and I was looking for something simple to carry along while traveling — the packaging was pretty and it really felt like Gangneung, so it caught my eye!!

Gangneung Sand Main Branch: the building and parking

Gangneung Sand Main Branch was clean and huge from the outside! A white-toned building with blue accents, giving off a bit of a Gangneung seaside vibe 💙 Five stories total, and it looked like floors up to the third were the café. The parking lot was spacious too, which was great haha

Doesn't the building give off Santorini vibes hahaha! I came to buy Gangneung Sand as a Gangneung travel gift but it felt like visiting a pretty café too, which was really nice!!

The counter at Gangneung Sand Main Branch was on the 2nd floor! The interior was really spacious too!

Decorated in blue and white, it felt cool and really gave off that Gangneung seaside feeling hahaha

And beyond Gangneung Sand itself, there was a display of products that had won awards at the Gangneung Tourism Souvenir Contest! Items like breakwater cookies and dried persimmon 'For You' had actually won multiple times at the contest, so I thought they'd be a good pick for a Gangneung travel gift too!

More than anything, it didn't feel like just buying a random snack — the packaging was pretty, so it felt good for gifting! And with a name like Gangneung Sand, I thought nothing could be more fitting as a Gangneung travel gift lol

Since I was giving the gift right away today, I picked it up, but for travelers staying a few more days, the courier service would be really handy!!

Choosing coffee and Chodang corn from six Gangneung Sand flavors

The Gangneung Sand I picked as a Gangneung travel gift! There were several flavors — coffee, dried persimmon, Chodang corn, black sesame, strawberry, and sweet potato — a lineup of 6.

After some thought I picked two: coffee and Chodang corn. Since I was in Gangneung, I felt like I had to pick a coffee flavor lol, and Chodang corn is a famous Gangneung item too, so I was curious and picked it along with the coffee one!

What is in the pink cherry blossom package?

The packaging on Gangneung Sand is so pretty! The one I bought was the pink cherry blossom package, and the box itself was quite pretty. 🌸 It didn't feel like a souvenir grabbed in a hurry while traveling — it was neatly packaged, so it felt full of care!! Especially good for anyone looking for a snack to share with coworkers or friends after a Gangneung trip!

Open the box and the sands are individually wrapped one by one! Since it's a multi-piece product, you don't have to eat them all at once, and I liked that you could just take out one at a time!

From the outside it looks like a square cookie, but it's actually a sand-type treat with cream in the middle. And the surface of the cookie has 'Gangneung Sand' engraved on it, which made it kind of cute in photos too haha

What does the Chodang corn Gangneung Sand taste like?

The Chodang corn flavor I was curious about! I'd seen so many Chodang corn menu items while traveling around Gangneung that I wanted to try this one too. It has that nutty, sweet flavor unique to corn, giving it a different charm from the coffee flavor. Personally, I thought it was a bit softer and sweeter than the coffee flavor, nice as more of a dessert-style treat!!
