Chinese restaurant in Goyang for jjamppong: Jjamppong Jijeon

In short

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Seooreung, Goyang, serving made-to-order jjamppong and Chinese dishes. We had jjamppong, crab fried rice, and glutinous-rice tangsuyuk, and especially remembered the chewy noodles, shell-free seafood, and fried dumplings. Verdict: a family-friendly stop worth returning to for the dumplings.

A jjamppong restaurant in Seooreung with easy parking

I visited Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch (짬뽕지존 서오릉점), famous in Seooreung for its made-to-order jjamppong! It is a great Goyang restaurant for lunch, and also a nice choice for a family dinner, so I wanted to introduce it haha. It is located at 424 Seooreung-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.

There is also a generously sized parking lot right in front, so I do not think you need to worry too much about parking! “Jjamppong Jijeon” is written large outside, and the sign says, “We will make even one bowl of jjamppong like a masterpiece.” Seeing that pride in the food made me even more excited for no reason at all!!

There is a 10% table discount for military personnel, and you also get 10% off when you order takeout in person. If you want to eat comfortably at home, takeout makes the price even friendlier—such a win! The certification stickers at the entrance also caught my eye. The Angel Sharing Certification sticker made me think this was a place that does good things too, and the gold plaque saying it was selected as an excellent business in the 2024 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation immediately made it feel more trustworthy haha. They also accept ZeroPay and Naver reservations!!

A spacious restaurant that was comfortable with a stroller and children

Once inside, it was much more spacious than I expected. It was large enough for groups, and I liked that the open kitchen let you see the cooking area. Above all, the tables and the whole restaurant were kept really clean! Every table was neatly set with paper cups, tissues, and condiment containers, and they served bottled water, which I liked from a hygiene perspective.

They also have high chairs, so it is a good place to come with children! I actually went with a stroller, and I was touched that they specifically guided me to a stroller-friendly seat~~!

What are the spice levels and self-service bar like?

Looking at the menu, there were indeed many kinds of jjamppong, as you would expect from a restaurant known for it! You can choose your preferred heat level too, from Hell Level 1 all the way to Hell Level. They say even Hell Level 1 is about 1.5 times spicier than Shin Ramyun, so those who pride themselves on handling spice might want to take the challenge! There were lots of cooked dishes as well, and I liked that dumplings were sold in small portions too. After some deliberation, we ordered jjamppong, crab fried rice, and glutinous-rice tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork).

At Jjamppong Jijeon, even the danmuji (yellow pickled radish) came in individually sealed packs, which was another hygienic touch I liked. The self-service bar had danmuji, crisp kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), onions, Cheongyang chili peppers, and even fresh mung bean sprouts to add to your jjamppong.

Rice is unlimited too, so you can comfortably help yourself if you need more, and scissors, tongs, and ladles were provided as standard. It looks like they use 100% Korean chili powder. Most restaurant chili powder is from China—does the owner have anything left over..? Haha. From a customer’s point of view, it is such a good thing haha.

Jjamppong packed with clam meat and smoky fried rice

Finally, the food arrived!! The jjamppong looked absolutely violent. It looked so delicious. I could not wait and took a bite first; perhaps because the noodles are aged at low temperature, they were wonderfully chewy. More than anything, the broth was deep and had a subtle smoky wok aroma, which was delicious. Instead of needing to pick through mussels and clam shells one by one, it was loaded with just the good bits—clam meat, squid, pork, and wood ear mushrooms—so it was easy to scoop up big spoonfuls haha.

The fried rice was nicely stir-fried, fluffy, and smoky. The jjajang (black bean sauce) that came with it was neither too thin nor overly sweet, and it had great savory depth, so it was delicious~

The fried dumplings my family decided to return for

What is there even to say about the glutinous-rice tangsuyuk~ The meat and its truly crisp-yet-chewy batter were so good. The coating was crispy but finished softly, and the meat felt fresh. It went wonderfully with the sweet sauce too, so we ate it all haha. But what the family members I went with were most surprised by was actually the dumplings.. The fried dumplings are seriously delicious. Honestly, you have to order them. I will not say it twice.. Hahaha.

바삭한 군만두와 탕수육

There are famous dumpling restaurants in Busan Chinatown and Uijeongbu, and these were better than both of them.. Your preconception that all fried dumplings are more or less the same will be shattered.. My family decided we would come back next time just for the dumplings haha.

After your meal, you can also casually have iced tea or coffee. I have never seen a place with this many after-meal drinks prepared hahaha. Such great attention to detail 👍👍👍

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch was a Seooreung favorite where I especially liked how well the open kitchen, restaurant, and even tableware were managed for hygiene, despite being a Chinese restaurant! It is also open year-round, which is really nice from a customer’s perspective. If you are looking for a place in Seooreung for a hearty bowl of jjamppong and crisp tangsuyuk together, I recommend stopping by :)
