Starting off today's 150th Nomadic Food story. 😊 The place I'm introducing this time is Jjimgoeul, an agujjim (spicy braised monkfish) restaurant in downtown Jinju. 🐙 This isn't a one- or two-time visit for me — I've already been here more times than I can count! Whenever agujjim comes to mind, I naturally end up here. An agujjim restaurant in Jinju! Recommended!
Especially if you love agujjim, I'd really recommend visiting! And if you're looking for good agujjim in downtown Jinju, this is the place. 💛 So let me tell you about Jjimgoeul, the agujjim restaurant in downtown Jinju that I've personally visited many times. 🎀

An old-school interior, with delivery and takeout still going
The interior had that warm, old-school restaurant feel — a comfortable atmosphere. 🪑 When I visited, there were plenty of customers eating in, and delivery and takeout orders kept coming in too. Definitely lives up to being a steady agujjim favorite in downtown Jinju. 😋

We ordered bone-in agujjim, small size, spice level 2
The menu is laid out like this, so check the board for reference. 📝 We ordered the small agujjim at spice level 2, with two bowls of rice. That's pretty much how I always order here — boneless agujjim is nice too, but for me, agujjim is always best with the bones in. 🤭

Banchan with stir-fried miyeok julgi (seaweed stem)
The banchan (side dishes) were totally my type too. 🤭 I'm the kind of person who thinks a place is automatically good if it serves stir-fried miyeok julgi (seaweed stem). I was happily working through the side dishes even before the agujjim arrived. 🫶

A generous serving of agujjim — how was the sauce?
Finally, the agujjim I'd been waiting for arrived! 🥳 It looked delicious just from the visuals, with spicy sauce soaked thoroughly into the monkfish. It came out generous and hearty, which made me feel like coming here was the right call again. 🤎

Can you see how rich the sauce is? 👀 Even the color shows it's properly coated on~ but once you actually taste it, it's not too harsh and not too bland either — just the right seasoning. It's spicy with a subtle savory depth, and the sauce soaks so well into the monkfish that it's really good eaten together with rice. 🍚

Total rice-thief material... 🍚 Isn't it a universal rule that eating agujjim makes you eat a lot of rice? I already really love agujjim normally, but here — trust me and go once. It's delicious! 😆

Here's the overall look of the spread! 👀 Most of the customers visiting were in their 40s and 50s, and true to a trusted local favorite, the place was full of locals. Even after eating, I'm already craving it again, so I'll probably be back soon. It's my go-to agujjim restaurant that I return to regularly. 🥰
Overall verdict
Jjimgoeul is the place I naturally go to whenever I'm craving agujjim in downtown Jinju! Above all, it tastes just as good no matter how many times I visit, which is why it's become my regular go-to spot. If you love agujjim, definitely give it a try at least once. I'll probably be back to eat again soon. 🤤
That wraps up the 150th Nomadic Food story, the Jjimgoeul edition in downtown Jinju 🎀 A place where I got to enjoy generous monkfish, crunchy bean sprouts, and rich sauce all together! Above all, since I've already visited more times than I can count, I want to recommend it with even more confidence. 🥢 If you're looking for a great agujjim restaurant in Jinju!!! Trust me and give Jjimgoeul a try 🌶️
