Yangju bakery café with fig croissants and outdoor views: Moonbird

It was early September, with weather that made me want to get outside no matter what. Last weekend, I visited a large café in Yangju: Moonbird. Actually, I already knew about this place before going.

Moonbird, a large café in Yangju, is in Goeup-dong, Yangju. It is close to Yangju Okjeong New Town and Hoecheon New Town. The area is quiet and great for a drive.

As you would expect from a large café, the site is quite spacious. It is a little disappointing that it is only one floor, though. The exterior is pretty enough that I wanted to take photos with it as the backdrop.

A large parking lot and outdoor tables

Moonbird has a generously sized parking lot, too, so parking is easy. There is another parking area on the other side as well.

Moonbird also has outdoor tables, so when the weather is cool, you can relax while taking in the view.

The bakery display sits in the center of Moonbird, and you order at the counter behind it.

The triangular tables at the front of Moonbird are wide, making them good for group gatherings. The large windows are also great for looking out at the surroundings.

The café is spacious and open. You can really tell it is a large café just from this photo, right?

This is the inner seating area. There were lots of customers, so I only took a photo. The view felt like being in a botanical garden, which was really lovely. If it is less busy next time, I would like to sit here.

A varied bakery, from salt bread to cakes

And here is Moonbird's bakery area. There is a wide variety of bread.

There are lots of kinds of salt bread and pastries, too. They looked so good that they seemed delicious.

Since it was fig season, I chose a croissant topped with figs. The rich chocolate topping looked delicious, too. The kids love chocolate bread, so we will have to eat that when we come together later, haha.

Moonbird has not only bread but also cakes and small desserts. There was so much to eat that I had trouble deciding what to choose, haha.

Coconut latte and a corner seat

Moonbird has a varied drinks menu as well. My wife ordered a coconut latte. It was a little pricey, though.

Moonbird's main hall was busy with customers like this. Rather than being surrounded by lots of people, we found ourselves a corner seat.

This spot feels a bit like a library. Even the chairs are school chairs, haha. It seems like a good place to study.

From our corner seat, we enjoyed the bakery treats and drinks while looking out at the outdoor view. We chose completely different flavors: a fig croissant and blueberry cake.

The bakery items looked great, and the lovely outdoor view and good weather went beautifully together.

How the fig croissant and blueberry cake tasted

You do not see figs all that often, do you? They were very soft and subtly sweet. They went well with the tangy jam. Eaten with the crisp bread, the crunchy-yet-moist combination worked really well.

The blueberry cake had lots of blueberries in it, too. I chose it because blueberries are said to be good for you, and I think it was a good choice, haha.

We had eaten a filling lunch, so we packed up the blueberry cake partway through. The takeaway box was clean and stylish. It would be nice to take away as a gift, too.

We walked around the café and took photos. The apartment buildings and mountain view were lovely. It is on slightly higher ground, which makes the view even better.

Moonbird is a café with many strengths: a spacious setting, lovely views, and a varied bakery selection. With so many good points, it was clearly popular with customers. I will try to come back when I have time and enjoy it at a slower pace~
