Kid-friendly Gijang café with matcha-free strawberry latte: Deokmi
In short
Deokmi Gijang Branch is an ocean-view dessert café standing right on the water along Dongam Coastal Road in Gijang, Busan. During a 2-night, 3-day family trip with kids, the order was white peach tiramisu, Oreo cheesecake, a royal vanilla bean latte and an Americano, plus a strawberry latte made from the menu's matcha strawberry latte with the matcha left out for the child. At Deokmi Gijang Branch the cakes turned out to be more memorable than the sea view itself.

Did you know there's a café right on the Gijang coast where you can eat life-changing cake too?

I went on a 2-night, 3-day Busan trip with my kids from September 2 to 4. This time I booked a place to stay near Gijang, and these days the Oshiria and Gijang area is really as hot as Haeundae or Gwangalli.

When you're traveling with kids, parents definitely need a moment to sit down with a coffee in the middle of it all. That's how I found Deokmi Gijang Branch, an ocean-view café in Gijang.
It's a convenient stop for anyone looking for a Gijang Haedong Yonggungsa café after visiting the temple or Oshiria, and it also works well for those looking for a Gijang luge café to rest at after riding Skyline Luge Busan. I'd heard it was a dessert café known even to overseas travelers, so I was curious — and going in person, the sea view was nice, but the cakes were what stuck with me more.

Where is Deokmi Gijang Branch, and what is it like right on the shore?
Deokmi Gijang Branch sits right in front of the beach on Donam Coastal Road in Gijang, Busan. The moment we arrived, the wide-open sea view really made it feel like a proper Busan trip.

Being able to look right out at the sea makes this a satisfying first impression if you're searching for a Gijang ocean-view café.
Personally, though, I thought the ocean view through the floor-to-ceiling windows inside was even prettier than the view from outside. Sitting with a coffee and looking out the window felt like a proper little break in the middle of the trip. Having a café like this along the way, where you can sit comfortably with a kid, was such a relief.

Main building or annex: which seats to pick at Deokmi Gijang Branch
Deokmi has a separate annex space in addition to the main building, so there's plenty of seating choice. It looked comfortable whether you're alone, on a date, or with family or a group.
If your itinerary includes sightseeing at Haedong Yonggungsa followed by a café, this would be a good addition to your list of Gijang Haedong Yonggungsa café options.
How do the white peach tiramisu and Oreo cheesecake taste?
The desserts we ordered at Deokmi Gijang Branch were the seasonal white peach tiramisu and Oreo cheesecake. Honestly, dessert was the biggest reason I came to Deokmi in the first place.

While searching for Gijang cafés, I kept seeing reviews raving about how good the cakes were.

The white peach tiramisu was pretty just to look at, and one bite in, it was genuinely soft. The tiramisu melted in my mouth while bites of tangy peach came through, and the combination was better than I expected. If you prefer bright, light desserts over rich, heavy ones, I'd recommend this one.

The Oreo cheesecake was also delicious. The dense cheesecake with sweet Oreo mixed in was pure bliss paired with an Americano. Between bites of cake and sips of coffee, the plate was empty before I knew it.

We went with the kids, but this particular moment was dad's dessert time. If you find yourself craving something sweet after a luge ride, this would work well as a Gijang luge café for cake and coffee together.
Drinks for kids: a strawberry latte with the matcha left out
For drinks we ordered a royal vanilla bean latte, an Americano, and a strawberry latte for the kid. Deokmi Gijang Branch's menu originally has a matcha strawberry latte, so since it was for my kid, I asked if they could leave out the matcha.

The staff made it as a straight strawberry latte, and my kid enjoyed it happily. Little touches like that mean a lot when you're going to cafés with a child. Actually, a handsome staff member kindly explained the desserts and coffee to us, but my kid was talking so much I didn't catch a word of it — haha. Anyway, everything was made with care and quality ingredients, so it all tasted great!

The royal vanilla bean latte was soft and sweet, so if you usually like vanilla lattes you'll probably be satisfied. The Americano, as expected, paired well with the Oreo cheesecake. Among Gijang ocean-view cafés, some have great atmosphere but disappointing coffee or dessert — Deokmi's basics held up well too.

With the parents holding coffee and cake and the kid holding a strawberry latte, we had a brief but peaceful family café moment. If you've toured Haedong Yonggungsa with kids, this also works well as a Gijang Haedong Yonggungsa café to rest at afterward.
An ocean-view café in Gijang remembered for its cake, not the sea
The biggest thing I took away from visiting Deokmi Gijang Branch in person was that it isn't just a café with a nice atmosphere. The Gijang sea view through the floor-to-ceiling windows was lovely, and the space was varied, but what really made it satisfying was that the coffee and desserts were genuinely good too.

In particular, the white peach tiramisu's tangy peach paired well with the soft cream, and the Oreo cheesecake was great with the Americano. Customers kept coming in the whole time we were there, and I could see why it's popular.

Gijang has plenty of large-scale cafés too, but I found a place like this one — with real seaside character and genuinely good desserts — more memorable. If your Busan trips so far have only covered Haeundae or Gwangalli, try exploring the Oshiria and Gijang area this time.

If you're moving through an Oshiria itinerary that includes Skyline Luge, this pairs naturally as a Gijang luge café to add to your route. If you're looking for a café to rest at during a family trip to Busan with kids, or a dessert spot near Haedong Yonggungsa or Oshiria, I'd recommend Deokmi Gijang Branch.

Gijang's Deokmi is a place you go for the sea and end up thinking about again for the dessert. It's a good fit for anyone looking for a Gijang luge café to stop at after luge or Oshiria sightseeing, and if you don't want to give up the ocean view either, I'd recommend it as a Gijang ocean-view café.
In particular, the white peach tiramisu and Oreo cheesecake are ones I'd want to order again next time I'm in Gijang. If you want to enjoy the Gijang ocean view together with good dessert, give it a visit.
