Euljiro 1-ga Korean restaurant with spicy gomtang sets: Yangjaeok
In short
Yangjaeok Lotte Department Store Main Branch is a gomtang (beef bone soup) restaurant in the basement 1F food hall of Lotte Department Store's main branch in Jung-gu, Seoul, connected directly to Euljiro 1-ga Station. Visiting with a child, the writer ordered the spicy gomtang set and the pork gomtang set, both served as a full rice set with stir-fried pork, tofu, kimchi and seasoned chives. Yangjaeok works well when an adult wants a sharp, spicy soup and a child needs a mild clear broth.

I went to the Lotte Department Store main branch for a closing sale and stopped by Yangjaeok for lunch with my kid.
It's on the basement 1F food hall of Lotte Department Store's main branch, so it's easy to find, and it's directly connected to Euljiro 1-ga Station, so access is great. Being in a department store food hall, it's clean by default! The store is also spacious and comfortable, so it was easy to eat there with a kid.
If you're looking for a Korean restaurant near Euljiro 1-ga Station or want a clean, solid meal while shopping, this place is a good option.
Where is Yangjaeok in Lotte Department Store, and how do you order?

You order at the kiosk.

What does the spicy gomtang set at Yangjaeok taste like?
There were two of us, so I ordered the spicy gomtang set and my son ordered the pork gomtang set. It's not just a bowl of gomtang (beef bone soup) — the set comes with stir-fried pork, tofu, kimchi, and several side dishes, so it's quite a hearty meal. Even just looking at it made me feel healthier haha.
It comes out neatly plated in brassware, so it looks clean and feels like a proper Korean meal! Here's the spicy gomtang set I ordered first. Already tasty-looking, haha 🥰🥰

The red broth is loaded with meat, bean sprouts, and green onion. Tasting it, it's less like a typical gomtang and more like a spicy soup with a bit of a yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) vibe! It's fiery and the broth flavor is rich and delicious. A spoonful of rice followed by a hot sip of broth was just right.
If you usually like spicy soups, I'd recommend the spicy gomtang. I ate it up thoroughly with rice.

If you're looking for a hot, filling lunch near Euljiro 1-ga, this could be a good choice.
The clear pork gomtang set for the child
My son had the pork gomtang set. Unlike the spicy gomtang, it has a clear broth with thinly sliced pork, giving it a somewhat clean, dwaeji-gukbap (pork soup with rice) feel. Since the broth isn't strongly seasoned, it was a good order to make when going with a kid.

My son even mixed the rice right into the broth and ate it all up neatly haha. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant near Euljiro 1-ga Station to visit with a kid, it might be nice to order the spicy gomtang for the adult and pork gomtang for the kid.

My son, saying the broth was super delicious 🥰
Stir-fried pork, tofu and side dishes served with the rice set
And the stir-fried pork that came with the set was tastier than expected! I didn't have high expectations since it's a side to the gomtang, but the seasoning was good and the meat was tender, so my chopsticks kept going back.

Eating a bite of the pork between spoonfuls of gomtang was a great combination. The generously sized tofu was also mild and tasty. It's good plain, dipped in the seasoned sauce, or eaten alongside the stir-fried pork!

The kimchi and seasoned chives and other basic side dishes went well with the gomtang, rounding out a satisfying full meal.
Is Yangjaeok a good lunch with a kid, or for office workers?
Above all, being inside the Lotte Department Store main branch means a convenient location and a clean store, which is a big plus. It's a good stop if you're looking for a lunch spot for office workers near Euljiro 1-ga, or want Korean food while shopping in Myeongdong. The atmosphere is clean enough that it's not just for families — it could also work if you're looking for a Myeongdong date spot and like Korean food. Especially with a kid, having the clear pork gomtang option made choosing a menu easy.
If you're looking for a Korean restaurant near Euljiro 1-ga Station or trying to decide on lunch near Euljiro 1-ga, it might be worth stopping by for a hot bowl of gomtang. Next time I'll have to try the boiled pork slices too!
