Osan Air Base Chinese restaurant, rainy-day seafood jjambbong: Jangsu

In short

Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom is a Chinese restaurant in Godeok-myeon, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, specialising in jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and sitting right in front of Osan Air Base. On a rainy day a couple ordered the regular jjambbong, jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) and a small sweet and sour pork, and the standouts were the fiery broth piled with mussels and squid and the pork fried in an old-style batter. With a large parking lot and a bright, clean dining hall that handles group meals easily, Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom is worth a return visit.

This time we visited Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom, a famous jjambbong spot in Pyeongtaek right in front of the Osan Air Base!! Whenever I came here for work, I always noticed it was packed with customers and got curious, and now I finally had the chance to visit haha!! Lunchtime especially was really crowded~!

Is parking easy at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom?

There's a large parking lot in front of Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom, so there was no need to worry about parking. It was pouring rain that day, which honestly made it perfect weather for jjambbong!! We quickly parked in the lot in front of this Godeok, Pyeongtaek favorite near the Osan Air Base and hurried in for some hot jjambbong.

Inside the dining hall: seating for groups

Walking into Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom, the space was much bigger than I expected! The lighting is bright and the tables are clean and spacious, so it doesn't feel cramped at all, and there are large tables too, so it seems like a great spot for a whole office to eat together hahaha. The whole restaurant also felt very hygienically managed :>

Menu and what we ordered for two

This is the menu at this Godeok favorite jjambbong restaurant..! Since it's summer, they're also selling seoritae kongguksu (black soybean noodle soup) right now haha. The prices are reasonable and the menu is varied, so it was really hard to choose.. My husband and I ended up ordering regular jjambbong, jjajangmyeon, and a small sweet and sour pork! :>

What does the regular seafood jjambbong taste like?

There was also a menu called gobul jjambbong topped with gochujang bulgogi, but today we ordered the spicy seafood regular jjambbong..! I'll have the gobul jjambbong next time haha. The regular jjambbong was packed with seafood~! Mussels, squid and other seafood piled high along with plenty of vegetables — the visuals really surprised me!! Even looking at the photos now makes me want to eat it again ㅠ.ㅠ

Spicy jjambbong broth with seafood

True to being a Godeok favorite jjambbong specialty restaurant, the chewy, firm noodles and the deep broth drawn from all that seafood were truly excellent haha. I immediately understood why they call themselves a jjambbong specialty restaurant! The broth wasn't heavy at all, just spicy and clean, and it cleared out even a hangover I didn't have!!><

Jjajangmyeon at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom

Was the jjajangmyeon sauce too salty?

Here's the jjajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles) we ordered together!! Usually when we order both jjambbong and jjajangmyeon, we tend to reach for the jjambbong more haha, but the jjajangmyeon at Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom was so good that my husband, who's normally team jjambbong, kept pulling the bowl toward himself and eating it eagerly lol. It really had that addictive taste.. genuinely delicious~!

The sauce wasn't too salty and wasn't overly sweet either, so it was exactly my idea of the perfect jjajangmyeon taste..! It was loaded with meat and vegetables too — honestly one of the best jjajangmyeon I've had in a long time haha.

Small sweet and sour pork with cabbage salad

Small sweet and sour pork in old-style batter

The small sweet and sour pork we ordered together came out too. Just from the look of it, I could immediately tell it was fried in clean oil! Instead of the glutinous rice batter style, it had that old-fashioned batter feel, which I actually preferred~! There was cabbage salad on the side too, so nibbling on shredded cabbage in between bites felt refreshing!

Crispy cross-section of the sweet and sour pork

The outside was super crispy and the meat inside was packed with juice, so it was that perfect crispy-outside, tender-inside combo — really, really good haha!! I completely understand now why this place is known as a top Chinese restaurant in Pyeongtaek ><

The meat in the sweet and sour pork was delicious, but the sauce drizzled on top was also perfectly sweet and tangy and totally suited my taste!! Jjambbong, jjajangmyeon, and even the sweet and sour pork — nothing was skippable, everything was clean-tasting and addictive haha.

Free coffee after the meal, and the verdict on Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom

After finishing our meal, there was a coffee machine set up so we could cleanse our palate with a cup of coffee haha. If you're looking for a Godeok, Pyeongtaek favorite jjambbong spot, I really recommend Jangsu Jjambbong Jeonmunjeom in front of the Osan Air Base haha.

It's clean and hygienic, and the food tastes great too, so we're planning to come back again~!! Recommended ><
