In short
Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch is a 24-hour Korean restaurant in Hwajeong-dong, Goyang, serving seolleongtang, beef head soup, and more. I enjoyed its milky seolleongtang, generously meaty Korean beef head soup, king dumplings, and unlimited self-bar sausage and rice during service hours. On days with big temperature swings like these... you know those evenings when it gets chilly and you want something properly filling? A steaming bowl of gukbap (rice soup) is exactly what comes to mind. This time, I visited Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch, a well-known spot in Hwajeong-dong. Open 24 hours a day, all year round, it is easy to visit anytime—from breakfast through lunch and dinner, right up to late-night hangover relief. What especially caught my eye was the unlimited sundae, liver, and lung, plus unlimited rice! Even with just one bowl of gukbap, it was a seriously filling spread.
A hearty meal in Hwajeong-dong, 24 hours a day
I visited at night, but its bright sign made it easy to spot from a distance.

Once inside, I found a cleaner, roomier atmosphere than expected! The tables were spaced nicely, so it looked comfortable for solo diners, family meals, and office-worker lunches alike. Customers kept coming in even while I was eating. With a quick meal that is filling, too, I could see why it would be popular with office workers looking for a restaurant near Hwajeong Station or a gukbap place in Hwajeong-dong. A sign on one side of the restaurant also read, “We bring craftsmanship to flavor.” Reading about the carefully selected ingredients and care put into the food made me even more curious about the broth.

The menu is so varied that you can choose what suits your taste, from sundae-guk and seolleongtang to beef head soup and naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). Its emphasis on carefully selected ingredients and craftsmanship gave me confidence, and the clean restaurant and neatly organized menu photos made ordering easy, too.
A self-bar for as much sundae and offal as you like

The real highlight here was the self-bar. You can take as much sundae (Korean blood sausage), liver, and lung as you want, and add rice freely, too. There are also the perfect gukbap accompaniments—kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), onion, and chili peppers—so you can comfortably take more of whatever you need. Unlimited sundae, especially... it feels like a proper feast has already begun before the gukbap even arrives. The available times are 11:30 AM–2 PM and 5:30 PM–8 PM, so keep that in mind.
A wide-ranging menu ordered through T-order

Every table has T-order, so you can browse photos and order comfortably. From sundae-guk, beef head soup, and seolleongtang to naengmyeon, gamjatang (pork bone soup), hot pot, sundae, pyeonyuk (pressed boiled meat), and king dumplings, there is plenty to choose from for a meal or something to have with drinks.
House-made basic sides with Korean ingredients

The kimchi, made in-house with Korean ingredients, went beautifully with the gukbap, too. Add a piece of kkakdugi and take a spoonful of broth—this combination needs no explanation.
Milky, rich premium seolleongtang

A full earthenware bowl of milky broth arrived bubbling hot, and it felt satisfying from the very first look. It had the savory flavor of beef bones, yet went down cleanly without being overly heavy or greasy. There was plenty of meat and somyeon (thin wheat noodles) inside, so every spoonful felt generous. Wrapping the tender meat and springy noodles together and eating them with the broth made me feel warmly restored.
Korean beef head soup loaded with meat

Personally, the Korean beef head soup caught my attention even more. I gently turned over the contents of the broth and found it packed with meat. From lean cuts to pieces with a pleasantly chewy texture, there was a great variety to enjoy, making every bite fun. A big spoonful of hot, deep broth with noodles and meat—that is gukbap at its most classic! Add buchu (garlic chives), and its fragrant, fresh texture creates another way to enjoy it.
You come for the portion, then return for the flavor.
That restaurant introduction made perfect sense: rather than simply being a place with huge portions, it left me with the impression of a Hwajeong-dong favorite where you can enjoy rich broth and generous ingredients together.

I adjusted the seasoning to taste and added well-fermented kimchi or kkakdugi one piece at a time, and I just kept reaching for another spoonful. Once you mix in rice, that really puts the perfect finishing touch on a hearty meal, right? It is a great place for office workers at lunch with a quick, hot bowl of gukbap, and in the evening, for a shot of soju with sundae and offal. Best of all, its 24-hour operation is a major plus when you crave hot broth late at night or need hangover relief. It feels easy to visit alone, while groups can choose according to their tastes among seolleongtang, beef head soup, and sundae-guk. During self-bar hours in particular, unlimited sundae, liver, lung, and rice make it especially appealing to anyone who values good value and a truly full stomach.
Satisfying extra-large king dumplings

The king dumplings I ordered alongside the gukbap are not to be missed, either. Just as their name suggests, they are clearly huge at a glance! Their freshly steamed wrappers were moist and chewy, and even one was quite filling. Taking a bite of king dumpling between spoonfuls of gukbap sent my carbohydrate happiness level soaring. It would also be a great side to order and share if you visit with a group.
At Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch, a Hwajeong-dong favorite, I enjoyed a generous meal of premium seolleongtang, Korean beef head soup, and king dumplings. From the rich, warming broth and ample meat to the oversized king dumplings, it was the complete hearty meal. Above all, the ability to freely enjoy sundae, liver, lung, and rice is a powerful draw! If you are looking near Hwajeong Station for a filling gukbap restaurant, an office-worker lunch, a comfortable solo meal, or a late-night hangover spot, this is one to remember.
