Family dinner at a Goyang Chinese restaurant: Jjamppong Jijeon

As the weather got a little chilly, I started craving a warming bowl of jjamppong. My family gathered at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch for dinner over the weekend. I had visited Jjamppong Jijeon before, and since the jjamppong was so good, it was somewhere I wanted to return to!

You know how even franchise restaurants can have branches that are especially delicious, right~? I had heard that the Seooreung Branch of Jjamppong Jijeon was particularly good, so I arrived full of anticipation.

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, a popular spot near Seooreung, is past Seooreung and beside Galbidolak. There is also a spacious parking area, so our family could comfortably park two cars and eat together.

Inside: group seating and a self-service bar

This is the spacious, pleasant interior of Jjamppong Jijeon near Seooreung. There were group tables, and partitions between the tables made it comfortable to dine.

At the self-service bar, you can freely help yourself to unlimited rice, fresh toppings, and side dishes! After your meal, there are drinks too, including iced tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and yulmu tea (Job's tears tea).

Hell Jjamppong heat levels and the menu

Here is the menu at Jjamppong Jijeon. They had most Chinese-Korean favorites, including jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, fried rice, and tangsuyuk. Since it is known for jjamppong, there were also many varieties, such as soft tofu jjamppong, sujebi jjamppong, and rice noodle jjamppong. I heard the soft tofu and sujebi jjamppong are delicious too! I will have to try them next time~

A friendly staff member showed us to our table and set out danmuji (pickled yellow radish), zhacai (pickled mustard stem), and bottled water. I liked that the water was clean and refreshingly cold, so I could drink it with confidence.

Level 1 Hell Jjamppong, 1.5 times as spicy as Shin Ramyun

I was craving spicy jjamppong, so I ordered level 1 Hell Jjamppong, which is 1.5 times as spicy as Shin Ramyun. You could see the warming spice just by looking at it! And it was incredibly generous.

It was deliciously spicy, just right for my taste! It was not merely hot and harsh; the spicy broth had a refreshing, savory depth, so I kept going back for more~ They say the jjamppong is made with 100% Korean chili powder and low-temperature-aged noodles!

Maybe that is why the noodles were soft and wonderfully chewy, while the broth was warming and spicy. It was also packed with fresh seafood, including squid and mussels! It really felt like they had not held back : )

Glutinous rice tangsuyuk divided between two tables

Our family sat at two tables, and they thoughtfully divided the glutinous rice tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork) into two portions! So please keep in mind that the actual amount was double what you see in the photos~ Crispy outside, tender inside! It was full of meat, and the sweet sauce was so good too!

Crab meat and shrimp fried rice with a child

My family ordered shrimp fried rice and crab meat fried rice! When you order fried rice, it comes with jjamppong broth, so you can enjoy them together~ The crab meat fried rice was slightly spicy, while the shrimp fried rice had a mild flavor that even a baby could eat!

High chairs and children's tableware were also available, so the little ones ate happily with us. It was a Chinese restaurant that was great for visiting with a baby too~
