When dining-out prices feel burdensome like they do these days, I find places where you can enjoy a generous spread rather than just one dish even more welcome.

This time, I went back to Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch because I was craving the kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) I had enjoyed on a previous visit.

Jangwongap Kalguksu in Gomae-dong, Yongin: location and parking
Jangwongap Kalguksu is in Gomae-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi-do. I sometimes stop by this Gomae-dong favorite for lunch on weekends after playing tennis at Gold CC. It is also close to Lotte Outlet Yongin Giheung, making it a good place to visit after a family outing or a date.

I liked that parking was easy at this Gomae-dong restaurant in Yongin when arriving by car. Food matters when visiting a restaurant, of course, but inconvenient parking can make things feel tiring from the start. Getting here by car felt much less of a hassle. If you are looking for a place to eat around Giheung-gu or Gomae-dong in Yongin, accessibility and parking are worth considering here too.

The large parking lot and the clean-looking building exterior really stand out.

A comfortable setting for two or for a family meal
Once inside, I found the whole restaurant neatly kept.

The tables were generously spaced, so it worked well for a meal for two and had an easygoing atmosphere for families or larger groups too. A kalguksu restaurant might bring to mind a somewhat old-fashioned setting, but I liked that this one felt comfortable for a relaxed meal.

Jangwongap Kalguksu centers on kalguksu but also offers mandu (Korean dumplings) and shabu-shabu dishes, so it looked like a solid choice for either lunch or dinner.

Ordering beef brisket-minari wrap kalguksu and pajeon
From the many choices, I ordered the beef brisket and minari wrap kalguksu and a whole-shrimp seafood pajeon (Korean scallion pancake) that day.

The menu lineup
What sets Jangwongap Kalguksu apart is that it is not simply a place to eat kalguksu on its own; you can enjoy a variety of dishes together. There are mandu and jeon (savory Korean pancakes) that pair nicely with the noodles, so it is easy to order to your taste. This time, I added the whole-shrimp seafood pajeon because it sounded like a great match for the kalguksu. In the end, I was quite happy with this combination.

How the beef brisket-minari wrap kalguksu tasted
My main order that day was the beef brisket and minari wrap kalguksu. I liked being able to enjoy the savory flavor of beef brisket with the fragrant freshness of minari (water celery). It would be an especially welcome dish for anyone who loves minari.

Beef brisket and minari make a great pairing
The brisket was savory with a meaty aroma, while minari has its distinctive fragrant freshness, so together it seemed to cut some of the richness. Eating the meat with minari made it feel much cleaner than having the meat on its own. It went well with the kalguksu noodles, and the brisket and minari were also nice separately.
The kalguksu-and-pajeon combination
A bite of kalguksu followed by a bite of pajeon worked better than I expected. The kalguksu was warm and mild, while the seafood pajeon was savory and more substantial, so they were good to alternate between.

If you are visiting as a pair, I think adding a dish such as pajeon rather than ordering only kalguksu would be a good idea. It is an especially nice combination when you want to chat over your meal or take your time eating. We had the beef brisket-minari wrap kalguksu and whole-shrimp seafood pajeon, and it was more filling than expected.

With brisket included, you get meat as part of the meal, and the minari makes the overall spread feel more generous than ordinary kalguksu. Adding the whole-shrimp seafood pajeon made it more than enough to share between two people.

I think it would suit anyone who wants to enjoy several dishes together rather than simply finish one bowl of kalguksu.

The crisp yet moist texture of the whole-shrimp seafood pajeon
And then there was the whole-shrimp seafood pajeon, which I ordered because kalguksu alone would have felt like a shame. True to its name, it is a seafood scallion pancake with shrimp, and it made a good side dish alongside the kalguksu. Pajeon is always best while it is hot, right? The crisp browned parts and moist interior had a nice texture together, and I also liked biting into whole shrimp here and there.
Misugaru and puffed snacks after the meal
After the meal, Jangwongap Kalguksu offers

misugaru (a multigrain powder drink) and

various puffed snacks for dessert, which was nice.
A satisfying meal with brisket and minari
At Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch, I tried the beef brisket-minari wrap kalguksu and the whole-shrimp seafood pajeon.

The fragrant flavor of minari joined the savory brisket, making the kalguksu feel a little different, and the warm broth and noodles made for a very satisfying meal.

The whole-shrimp seafood pajeon was a good accompaniment to the kalguksu, and it was fun to find shrimp in the bites.

Overall, the restaurant was clean and parking was easy, making it a good place for a family meal or dinner with friends.

Especially if you are looking for kalguksu in Giheung-gu, Yongin and want something beyond an ordinary bowl—one where you can enjoy brisket and minari together—it is worth a visit.

Next time, I would like to try other kalguksu dishes and some mandu as well.
