Yongin Korean restaurant for stroller-friendly spicy shabu: Jangwongap
In short
Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is a Korean restaurant in Yongin, Gyeonggi, serving wagyu brisket shabu kalguksu and seafood pajeon. We had 3 portions of spicy-broth wagyu brisket, free perilla-oil kkakdugi fried rice, and a comforting dessert. Verdict: a wonderfully considerate, generous choice for a family meal.

Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch was full at lunchtime
This is Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch (장원갑칼국수 용인기흥점).

Here’s what it looks like from outside! Maybe because it was lunchtime, but it was already completely full!!

The parking lot is quite spacious, but even that was full, so we waited for a space! (That’s when I started getting extra, extra excited about how good this place must be.)

These are Jangwongap Kalguksu’s business hours!
But as soon as we walked in, there were banners lined up showing off Jangwongap Kalguksu’s incredible pride!! I wasn’t that hungry at first, so my husband and I had planned to eat only kalguksu, but after seeing them, it became, “Let’s get seafood pajeon too!!”

Ordering rules and a thoughtful stroller seat
At Jangwongap Kalguksu, kalguksu must be ordered as one portion per person, starting from a minimum of two portions! We ordered three portions of the Premium Wagyu Brisket Spicy Broth!

Once you enter, there’s a separate space set up for waiting and having dessert!

And beside it were all these certificates, proudly displayed to show what an outstanding restaurant Jangwongap Kalguksu is!!

Here are the ingredient origins!

Oh, and when you order kalguksu, perilla-oil kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) fried rice is complimentary! (They said they can provide rice for a baby too if you ask—this really could not be a more perfect restaurant ㅠㅠ)
What really moved us was that eating out is still a little difficult with such a young baby, but a staff member (they are so, so kind ㅠㅠ) thoughtfully gave us a seat with room for the stroller. We were able to eat comfortably without the baby crying!

How to enjoy shabu kalguksu
There was a guide on the table for how to eat shabu kalguksu deliciously!! It was written so clearly and large that it was easy to follow along.

There were little guides to enjoying it everywhere on the tables!

Wagyu brisket and Uiseong garlic kimchi
Finally, the signature Premium Wagyu Brisket Kalguksu arrived!

And alongside it came Uiseong garlic kimchi!! This kimchi is seriously something else. It had that incredibly delicious fresh-geotjeori kimchi feeling ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ!!

The minari (water celery) and wagyu came ready for us to enjoy shabu-shabu style.
First, I took a bite of raw minari and beef dipped in sesame oil and salted sauce, and wow... it was insane. At first I wondered, “You dip this in sesame oil?” But it was truly just amazing itself. The aroma of the sesame oil was unreal ㅠㅠㅠ..!! They actually sell this sesame oil at Jangwongap Kalguksu, and I heard it is mill-pressed sesame oil made in-house!! No wonder it couldn’t possibly taste bad…

Whole-shrimp seafood pajeon and stretchy noodles
While we were eating away without a thought, the seafood pajeon arrived!! Look at this whole-shrimp seafood pajeon, packed full without a gap..! The shrimp and squid were seriously generous.

Look at that sheen ㅠㅠㅠ It was crispy too, and this was really delicious as well.

After we had more or less finished the beef and minari wraps, it was finally time for the kalguksu’s omakase-style moment..! Time to try the noodles! Apparently, the noodles change through five different textures!!
Even the uncooked noodle bundle looked completely chewy and springy!! Straight into the pot!! Just lifting them with the tongs made them feel like they stretched and stretched like cheese!!

These kalguksu noodles had such a satisfyingly substantial, stretchy feel! We dipped the noodles in sesame oil too. My husband and I couldn’t help asking, “Can we add more of this?”

Free fried rice and dessert, too
We were honestly so full, but people said the perilla-oil kkakdugi fried rice was a must, so we asked a staff member for it! To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much because I was so stuffed..

But really hahaha, it was ridiculously good. I guess Jangwongap is an expert in sesame oil and perilla oil..!

I was full to bursting, but we even had dessert before leaving. Jangwongap Kalguksu had prepared everything so generously—just the best..

You can eat them there, but they also sell the snacks in bags!

There’s a coffee machine too! You absolutely have to try this misutgaru (multigrain powder drink)!! It genuinely tastes like the kind your grandma would make for you ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

It was so delicious that I honestly thought, “Why am I only trying Jangwongap Kalguksu now?” If your family is eating out and craving kalguksu, I absolutely, absolutely recommend it!
