Yongin Italian restaurant for ppesce: Ttukbaegi-e Dameun Italia

In short

Ttukbaegi-e Dameun Italia is an Italian restaurant in Yangji, Yongin, Gyeonggi. I had spicy seafood ppesce and a rose bacon calzone overflowing with cheese, and two big eaters were full with just two dishes. Verdict: Ttukbaegi-e Dameun Italia is a seriously generous, satisfying meal.

A spacious, comfortable Italian restaurant in Yangji, Yongin

I visited Ttukbaegi-e Dameun Italia (뚝배기에 담은 이탈리아), which has quite the word-of-mouth buzz as a great place to eat in Yangji, Yongin.

Once I stepped inside, the space was so much bigger, more open, and more comfortable than it looked from outside.

Spacious, open restaurant interior

The tables are nicely spaced out and there is plenty of group seating too, so it would be great for dates or family gatherings. I also really loved that every table has a tablet PC, so you can look through menu photos and order right from your seat. So, so good!!!

There are private spaces like this too, just so you know!!

And they even have coffee... Seriously, for anyone who absolutely needs coffee after a meal, this is amazing~~ I'm totally someone who has to drink coffee after eating, so isn't saving coffee money just the best?! ><

Why I ordered ppesce and calzone

I ordered ppesce, the pasta people call a hangover cure, and calzone??? I was originally going to get pizza, but I'd never seen calzone before and was sooo curious, so I ordered it!!!

While waiting for the food, I spotted an event notice on the table. If you scan the QR code before ordering, you can join a “no-lose roulette spin,” with amazing prizes including ₩100,000 and ₩50,000 dining vouchers, gorgonzola pizza, a seasonal ttukbaegi salad, and ade drinks.

Bread and house-made pickles before the meal

Before the mains arrived, we got two cute little slices of bread and beautifully colored house-made pickles. The bread was crisp on the outside and drizzled with a sweet-savory balsamic sauce, perfect for getting my appetite going before the meal. The cabbage and radish pickles, prettily colored with beet juice, were especially crunchy and refreshing, neatly cutting through those rich Italian flavors between bites.

Spicy ppesce with an absolutely incredible broth

Finally, the first main arrived: the ppesce I really, really recommend! It comes in a big, hefty black ttukbaegi (Korean earthenware pot), and the bubbling-hot look alone gets your appetite going. It is packed with fresh seafood like mussels, plump shrimp, and chewy squid, plus generous amounts of broccoli, mushrooms, and other ingredients.

The broth is seriously a work of art. The second you take a spoonful, it has this deep, rich, spicy-savory flavor that genuinely feels like it clears up a hangover! Maybe because I drank a little too much beer the night before, but it felt like my hangover disappeared immediately ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Thanks to the ttukbaegi, it stayed hot like a stew until the very last noodle, making this a perfect signature dish for a Yangji, Yongin meal. Totally recommend it—the broth is truly incredible!!

Rose bacon calzone with cheese pouring out like a waterfall

Next up was the ultimate showstopper: the rose bacon calzone. A huge half-moon-shaped calzone, golden brown like it came from a wood-fired oven, sits right on top of thick rose pasta. The moment you gently cut open its belly with tongs, the mozzarella packed inside stretches and pours out like a waterfall!

Look at that—insane, right??? It's seriously huge too, for real.

The soft, chewy bread is filled to the brim with nutty cheese and salty bacon, so it is great on its own. But dip it generously in that ridiculously savory rose sauce and eat it with the pasta noodles, and the flavor comes alive several times more. If you love cheese, you absolutely, totally need to order this calzone! Please eat it ㅠㅜ

A generous meal that fills up even two big eaters

At Ttukbaegi-e Dameun Italia, I got to enjoy unusual ttukbaegi pasta and an incredible cheesy calzone in a spacious, comfortable setting. The spicy ppesce settled my stomach right down, while the calzone bursting with nutty cheese filled my mouth with happiness. If you are looking for a great place to eat in Yangji, Yongin, I strongly recommend trying this crazy-good pairing at least once!

Also, my friend and I are both big eaters, and normally we need to order enough for three at an Italian place to get full, you know?? But the portions here are so generous that just two dishes filled us up, for real. Anyway, massive recommendation!!
