Dongnae sushi restaurant with salmon salad: Moshi Moshi Sushi

In short

Moshi Moshi Sushi is a Japanese restaurant in the eighth-floor food court of Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch in Busan. Three of us shared the ₩68,900 set with salmon salad, 16 pieces of sushi, and panmomil; it was filling, though the sushi selection was not explained before ordering.

Is it conveniently located for a meal after a movie at Dongnae Lotte Cinema?

For a friend’s birthday, I went to Moshi Moshi Sushi at Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch. This department store felt relatively less crowded to me, and parking was convenient, so it seemed like a good place to shop and eat at an unhurried pace.

Moshi Moshi Sushi is beside the escalator in the eighth-floor food court. It was also conveniently located for continuing on to a meal after watching a movie at Dongnae Lotte Cinema.

The hours posted at the time of my visit were 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM, with last orders at 8:00 PM. The notice said that it closes on the department store’s closing days.

Seeing the “excellent” hygiene rating at the entrance put me at ease. The country-of-origin information was also displayed where it was easy to see.

Are there seats for a quiet meal?

Along with the spacious main dining area, there were inner seats in a slightly separated space. We booked an early time slot and were able to sit where we wanted. The inner area was divided by partitions, so it looked good for a quiet meal.

How are the set meals arranged?

The signature dishes were displayed at the entrance. Among the recommended hansang (full meal tray) options, the soba and udon set was listed at ₩18,500, but since this was a birthday meal for my friend, we chose from the sushi sets.

The menu was divided into sets, hansang meals, sushi, and à la carte dishes.

The hansang menu included sushi hansang, sashimi hansang, Korean beef yukhoe hansang, soba sushi, and udon sushi. There was a wide variety to choose from depending on the kind of meal you wanted.

Although there were three of us, we chose the premium tier of the two-person set because it let us have sushi, salad, and noodles together. Between the char siu and salmon-salad options, the salmon salad sounded fresher, so we ordered Set No. 3.

What was the salad in the set like?

Tofu salad, cabbage salad, and soup came as the basic sides.

The tofu salad was topped with dressing and several kinds of sprouts. The dressing was unusual and nutty.

The blueberry dressing paired well with the salmon salad. Eating it with the salad made it a good start to the meal, and when I had it, it tasted clean without any fishiness.

What comes with the ₩68,900 sushi set, and what was disappointing?

The Set No. 3, “The Better One,” that we ordered was ₩68,900. It was a two-person meal consisting of salmon salad, 16 pieces of sushi, and panmomil (cold buckwheat noodles).

When ordering, there was no explanation of which sushi came in the premium tier, so I had to choose while wondering what it would include. Once the food arrived, I could see that it included tuna, eel, and abalone.

The soy-marinated shrimp stood out for being large and plump. I also ate the abalone and eel without any fishy taste.

How filling is it with the panmomil?

The panmomil came with two portions of noodles and two bowls of lightly frozen broth. We could each dip in as much broth as we wanted, and the wasabi added a pleasantly sharp flavor. The broth had a different flavor from other soba noodles I have tried.

Although it was a two-person set, the three of us shared it and still finished feeling full. To me, it felt like a generous amount for two people.

With choices ranging from hansang meals to sushi sets, Moshi Moshi Sushi felt like a good place to plan a meal alongside a movie or shopping. It was disappointing that it was difficult to know the sushi varieties before ordering, but that day I had an unhurried birthday meal with salad, sushi, and panmomil.
