Songjeong café for a color-changing night drink menu: Suwolgyeonghwa

Today I'm introducing a great café in Songjeong! I'd wanted to visit this atmospheric Songjeong spot for a Busan date course for ages — by day the view of Songjeong Beach is gorgeous, and by night there's a night view plus special menu items, so you get great vibes, great taste, and a special experience all in one. Here's my review of Suwolgyeonghwa (수월경화)!

Suwolgyeonghwa is on the 4th floor of a building directly in front of Songjeong Beach, so it has a refreshing view straight out over the water.

As a great ocean-view café in Busan, Suwolgyeonghwa sits on the 4th floor, so even the walk up gets you excited for the Songjeong Beach view!

Here's the interior. There's a huge picture window facing the ocean, with tables set up facing the beach — the atmosphere was really lovely.

Calm café interior with hanok-inspired design

Suwolgyeonghwa (수월경화) means "the moon reflected in water, a flower reflected in a mirror" — and the space was designed to embody that idea, blending hanok (traditional Korean house) sensibility with a calm, quiet mood.

There's a central table that fits groups, plus seats for two that are great for dates — and pretty lighting fixtures over every table add even more romance 👍🏻

I sat at a window seat to enjoy the ocean view, and even at night the lights facing Songjeong Beach let you take in the night sea and city lights.

Open the door next to the counter and you'll find teabags of various teas blended in-house, sold for takeaway — especially recommended if you're a tea lover.

Suwolgyeonghwa has several kinds of in-house blended tea, each labeled with its own characteristics on the menu — worth a browse~

Where the day once lingered, night has quietly settled in. Moonlight reflects on the sea, and a cup of tea slowly reflects the day. A longer afterglow than words, a deeper night than drink. Stay a while at the end of today.

Description of the non-alcoholic cocktail-style night menu

This is Suwolgyeonghwa's night menu (밤마실, "night stroll"). These items can only be ordered after 19:00. They're non-alcoholic, cocktail-style drinks — Suwolgyeonghwa's own special way of making a Songjeong night view even more romantic.

What we ordered – Fire (火), Water (水), and Pungwol

Once the buzzer goes off, you can pick up your order at the pickup zone. The Fire (火) drink is an iced tea made with hibiscus, lemon myrtle, apple, and mango. The Water (水) drink is a sparkling drink made with jasmine, lemon, soda, and 'galaxy' (은하수) elements.

Pungwol monaka dessert

Pungwol is a monaka (thin wafer sandwich) dessert — a round mound of sweet bean paste sits atop a thin cracker. There are four flavors: yuzu, hojicha, injeolmi (sweet rice cake), and matcha! Not too sweet and full of flavor, it's a dessert anyone could enjoy.

Water (水) that changes color

On the right is Fire, on the left is Water! For the Water drink, they pour tea from a small kettle into your glass and the color changes right in front of you — great for photos or video.

There's also a good amount of blue syrup at the bottom, so give it a good stir to really enjoy the flavor. The fragrant jasmine paired beautifully with the tangy lemon and refreshing fizz.

The Fire drink came with ice and mango in a small jar — you pour the red tea in yourself. The subtle scent of hibiscus and the sweet aftertaste of mango and apple made it really tasty.

Final thoughts – a romantic Songjeong tea café

I'd always thought Suwolgyeonghwa looked amazing for its ocean view whenever I passed by on the beach train through Songjeong Beach, and I finally got to visit. Go during the day for the pretty ocean view of Songjeong Beach, or at night for the romantic Songjeong night view — and at night especially, you get to enjoy the special night menu (밤마실), which made it even better. If you're planning a Songjeong date course in Busan, this café is well worth a visit.
