Songjeong Beach, back at the ocean after a while

Busan is one of Korea's best travel destinations, and I'm sure most of you have been there many times, right?? I used to live in Busan, and even now that I've left, I love the city so much I visit every month or two. I'm sure plenty of you have explored every corner of Busan too — there are so many iconic spots. Haeundae, Gwangalli, Dadaepo, Yeongdo, Taejongdae, Songdo, Seomyeon, Nampo-dong, Gijang, and more.

Songjeong Beach, tucked between Haeundae and Gijang, draws a lot of visitors for surfing and other ocean activities. And Songjeong also has plenty of cafés with calm, beautiful ocean views.

So this time I went back to Songjeong Beach to see the ocean again after a while. It had been a long time, but the place was still wonderful. Same sea, but Songjeong has its own charm compared to Haeundae, Dadaepo, and Gwangalli. The Haeundae Blue Line Park train also runs nearby, which makes for a fun little experience. I recommend taking some time to unwind at a Songjeong ocean-view café.

What kind of café is Suwolgyeonghwa?

Run by OMG Co., Ltd., Suwolgyeonghwa has been listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey for two years running, 2025 and 2026. The name Suwolgyeonghwa means 'the moon reflected in water, a flower reflected in a mirror,' and the café captures that feeling with hanok (traditional Korean house) sensibility and a calm, distinctive atmosphere.

There's a wide range of tea drinks made with premium teas, and traditional Korean sweets and desserts are prepared fresh every day. Coffee is available too, so no worries there, and you can also enjoy ssanghwacha (herbal tonic tea), sujeonggwa (cinnamon-persimmon punch), sikhye (sweet rice punch), financiers, black rice bread, monaka, injeolmi (rice cake) skewers, and more.

The café is located at Songjeong Beach in Songjeong-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan. Coming from Haeundae, as soon as you exit the Songjeong Tunnel, turn right and the café appears shortly after.

Parking and the building exterior

Here's a look at the area around Suwolgyeonghwa, the parking lot, and the building exterior. It's near Songjeong Surf Village, and the brick building itself is quite charming. Free parking is only available in the 1st-floor piloti at the front, and you walk up the stairs on the right side of the building.

From the stair photo zone to the 4th-floor picture window

I explained the meaning of the name Suwolgyeonghwa above, and true to that concept, the café's interior is decorated in a wonderfully emotional, atmospheric style. There's even a photo zone along the stairs as you climb up. As you reach the 4th-floor entrance, the Blue Ribbon sticker on the door catches your eye first. And the moment you step inside, the Songjeong ocean view unfolds through the picture window straight ahead. I was so excited. ><

How do you order?

As soon as you walk in, there's a kitchen and counter on the right. In front of it, the premium teas are lined up so you can smell them and choose. To order, take a menu from beside the counter, then find a seat first. The view of Songjeong Beach from inside the café is truly beautiful. It already puts you in a good mood.

The Dalbodeure box, bamsikhye, and Bomulgyeol tea

The time I spent resting and healing here was truly precious. A train happened to pass by, so I caught that moment on camera. I picked the Dalbodeure box, a signature dessert box that lets you enjoy Korean desserts all at once, without a second thought. It included financiers, monaka, black rice bread, injeolmi, and other delicious Korean-style desserts. For drinks, I chose bamsikhye and a tea called Bomulgyeol. Eating it all while looking at the ocean made it even better.

How many kinds of tea do they have?

Everything suited my taste and was delicious, of course, and seeing the traditional desserts in particular made me think of my beloved parents. I'll definitely have to bring them along next time. The tea selection especially is huge — rooibos, chamomile, mint, dark chocolate rooibos, hibiscus, hojicha, black tea, yuzu, musk melon, and so many more made with all kinds of ingredients. Enjoy as much as you like.
