Mild spicy seafood stew and pork cutlet combo in Daebudo: Haemokjeong

Today I want to introduce the restaurant I enjoyed the most on my trip to Daebudo. It's already famous — featured on SBS's Live Today morning show and a hit spot with over 2 million YouTube views 👏🏻👏🏻

Here's the exterior. Heading toward Yeongheungdo/Sihwa Tidal Barrier, turn left → at Goyuji intersection turn right toward Banghameori/Ansan → go straight 300m and Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is on the right side of the road!

Interior and seating

The interior is modern and clean, and there are plenty of tables — even at a late lunch hour, families kept coming in! I'd recommend booking ahead via Naver Reservations.

There was a wide variety of seafood dishes. We ordered the seafood stew for two (₩45,000) and the handmade king pork cutlet (₩13,000). They also have various set menus, which look great for larger groups!

Side dishes

The side dishes were warm seaweed soup, pickled chili peppers, white kimchi, seasoned chives, and braised potatoes. You could taste the care put in just from the sides!

Seafood stew for two, ₩45,000 — how spicy is 'mild'?

Here comes the star of the show — the seafood stew ✌🏻 We ordered it mild, and it was barely spicy at all, mild enough for kids to eat too. Packed with fresh seafood and boneless monkfish, stir-fried in Haemokjeong's own special sauce — so good 🤎

Can you see how plump the squid and octopus are? Haha. The ingredients themselves were so good — fresh and delicious. Smoky, savory flavor that people of all ages would love.

The chewy rice cake sticks soaked in sauce were also a treat — picking one out between the plump seafood pieces was oddly satisfying, haha.

Handmade king pork cutlet, ₩13,000 — great if you're with kids

No gamey smell at all, just crispy and delicious handmade king pork cutlet! Being handmade, the meat's texture really came through, with a rich, savory flavor in every bite 👏🏻 A dish that will satisfy everyone if you come with kids who can't handle spicy food!

Especially when you dip it in the monkfish meat and seafood stew sauce like this — the slightly spicy sauce mixed with the crispy cutlet makes the best combination ever!! Highly recommend.

Fried squid from the receipt review event

This is the fried squid we got from the receipt review event! Crispy batter with chewy squid inside made for such a good texture 👍🏻👍🏻 They told us to dip it in the seafood stew sauce when serving it — dipping it in that spicy sauce added even more savory depth, a real treat, haha.

With everything from seafood stew to pork cutlet to fried squid, there's plenty of variety to share among a group!
