Hey, it's Jjenny haha! I recently visited The Taco Booth Ansan Gojan Branch! I actually like tacos but don't eat them often — after this visit I was so satisfied I wondered why I hadn't found this place sooner 👍

The vibe at The Taco Booth Ansan Gojan Branch

Just from the outside it had a hip feel, clearly a foreign restaurant vibe 🗽

Exotic-feeling storefront entrance

Stepping inside it felt even more exotic! It really felt like I was traveling abroad, so I soaked up the atmosphere for a while haha.

Since tacos are eaten with your hands, it was convenient that there was a sink inside, and other utensils and sauces were set up separately so anyone who needed them could just grab them!

Besides tacos, there were so many other options — platters, poke, salads, burritos, quesadillas and more 🙌

Birria taco vs carne asada taco

The tacos came out quickly 😍 Look at that visual, so delicious-looking!! I'm drooling just writing this.

Birria taco loaded with cheese and meat

The one I was most looking forward to — the birria taco! 🌮 Packed with cheese and birria meat, the first bite hit me with a soft, melt-apart meat texture!! The meat was moist and not chewy at all, and it blended perfectly with the cheese ‼️

There's also lemon served on the side — squeeze a bit on for even more layered flavor,

Taco dipped in the special sauce

and dipped in the special sauce, it's seriously delicious... why did I only order two, I need to reflect on myself.

Birria taco with a bite taken out

It has a broadly appealing flavor that pretty much anyone would love. If you forced me to recommend just one, I'd have to go with the birria taco 👏

Carne asada taco topped with steak

If birria was moist and rich in flavor, the carne asada was steak, so you really tasted the clean, savory flavor of the meat.

Carne asada taco topped with onions and other toppings

With onions and various toppings mixed in, the meat's savoriness got a refreshing lift, making it cleaner-tasting than I expected. Even someone who dislikes vegetables ate this one up happily lol. Since the two tacos tasted so different, comparing them as we ate made it even more fun haha.

What does Mexican yukgaejang taste like?

A bowl of Mexican yukgaejang

The Mexican yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) had me curious just from the name! It's definitely different from Korean yukgaejang — a slightly spicy broth with the distinct aroma and flavor of Mexican food layered on top.

Mexican yukgaejang with meat and multigrain rice

The meat inside looked like birria meat, and it came with multigrain rice, which kept it light. It was my first time trying this kind of Mexican dish, and it tasted surprisingly familiar yet different at the same time — fun to eat haha. If tacos alone feel a bit light, this is the dish to order for something more filling 🙌

Buffalo wings & fries

A plate of buffalo wings and fries

We figured tacos alone might feel a bit lacking, so we also ordered buffalo wings! Never fails~ The buffalo wings come together with fries 🍗🍟

Close-up of sauce-coated buffalo wings

The buffalo wings were nice because the chicken wasn't dry, and the outside was coated in buffalo sauce plus some spices, giving it a salty and distinctive flavor! The fries tasted like Mom's Touch fries 👍 crispy, salty, and hard to stop eating.

Final thoughts

Maybe because the tacos are made using techniques from a master chef documentary, they felt even more delicious to me. The atmosphere was full of New York energy too, making it a great spot to come for a meal. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Gojan-dong, Ansan, I highly recommend it!
