Busan galbitang restaurant with matcha juice for solo diners: Gang
In short
Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is a galbitang (short rib soup) restaurant on the main road between Seomyeon Station and Bujeon Market in Busan. Visiting alone on a sweltering day, the writer ordered spicy galbitang with three big rib bones, a surprisingly generous matcha juice, and free radish pickles from the self-serve bar. Great value for the price and portion, this is a place worth bringing parents back to next time.

It's still so unbearably hot out that my energy was just draining away, so I went solo to recharge at Gang Galbitang, a great spot for solo diners in Seomyeon, Busan!
This is definitely a menu my parents would love, so I felt a little guilty eating it alone ,, , Let me introduce this hangover-soup restaurant that I want to bring them to next time 🤍

Gang Galbitang is close to both Bujeon Market and Seomyeon, so it's easy to access, and since it's right on the main road, it wasn't hard to find even on my first visit :) There's a big menu board right at the entrance too, so it's hard to just walk past — a real solo-dining spot in Seomyeon, Busan.
Interior atmosphere and seating
The inside was clean and had a warm, homey feel — the kind of place that seems comfortable to eat at with anyone.

I visited during lunchtime, and when I first walked in it was completely packed! They even looked like real locals rather than tourists, so I felt like I'd come to the right place to recharge.

With both bar-style counter seats and table seats, it looked totally fine for a work dinner, a family meal out, or eating solo.

You can freely grab extra side dishes from the self-serve bar whenever you like.
Menu lineup

True to its name, the menu is simply built around galbitang and galbi noodle soup :) They even have braised beef shank slices, good for pairing with a drink, so it looked like a fine spot to visit for a drink at night too!

Salt, red pepper powder, and pepper are set out at every table so you can season it to your taste.
Tasting the spicy galbitang and matcha juice

What I ordered was: · Spicy galbitang · Matcha juice — a solid combo :)

It didn't take long after ordering before it arrived piping hot in a stone pot, served with kkakdugi (radish kimchi), rice, and sauce.

✔️ Matcha juice
Honestly, I thought — matcha juice at a rice restaurant? But wow, the portion is insanely generous... It's a big glass, and the slightly bitter matcha flavor comes through gently, making it great to sip between bites!

✔️ Spicy galbitang
Every single side dish went well with the rice, so a refill was pretty much inevitable haha!
The deep red broth was so rich and refreshing — one spoonful in and it felt like it was curing a hangover I never even had.

And the star of the show — the ribs — came with a whopping three big bones in there, no joke.
The meat on the bone was so tender that just touching it with chopsticks made it slip right off the bone.
There was so much meat that you could make a full satisfying meal out of just the ribs alone.

Spicy, but not overpowering — the broth had a savory, clean taste that people of any age could enjoy.

Dipping the tender meat in soy sauce brought out a rich, well-balanced flavor that I couldn't stop eating!!!

Dunking a bite of meat with the hot broth into the sticky rice — that's what recharging looks like ♡

On top of the basic glass noodles, I added thin wheat noodles, and they were so good I basically inhaled them face-first into the bowl. Not greasy at all, and the savory flavor soaked well into both the meat and the noodles — genuinely, genuinely delicious ㅜㅜ

Don't skip the dried radish at the self-serve bar
The kkakdugi here was crunchy and delicious in its own right, but the spicy dried radish (mumallaengi) was especially good! It's not included as a default side dish, but it's at the self-serve bar, so make sure you try it.
Final thoughts 💭

Weighing price, portion, and quality together, Gang Galbitang was excellent for the price! The sheer amount of meat kept surprising me the whole meal, and since my parents would definitely love it too, this is a solo-dining spot in Seomyeon, Busan that I'm sure to visit again ♥
