Ansan Korean restaurant dinner: cold kalguksu at Haemokjeong

In short

Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is a Korean restaurant in Ansan, Gyeonggi, with seafood dishes and kalguksu. After checking into our pension, my family ordered two servings each of cold kalguksu and mushroom kalguksu. Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is a good fit when a group wants both seafood and noodle options.

A Daebudo dinner after pension check-in

On the day I visited Daebudo as part of a private-pension experience group, I finished checking in and headed to Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch (해목정 대부도점) for dinner! It was close to the pension, so getting there was easy, too!!

Haemokjeong is a place where you can enjoy a range of dishes including seafood, braised seafood, octopus, and webfoot octopus, but my family loves kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), so that is what we had for dinner that day.

Parking and opening hours

There were large parking lots in front of and behind the restaurant, so it was convenient to visit by car!

It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 21:00. It is regularly closed every Monday.

I was even more excited because Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch has been featured on TV and YouTube. Apparently, it appeared on SBS Live Today, MBC Live Tonight, and a YouTube channel with 3 million subscribers.

How was it for a family meal or date?

When I went in, the tidy interior stood out. There was room under the chairs for outerwear or bags, and high chairs and disposable aprons were available, too.

What I liked was that the cutlery was individually wrapped, which looked hygienic. As you would expect from a place many people visit for seafood dishes, the tables were comfortably spaced, and it was good for families as well as dates.

Tablet ordering and a review event

Each table had a tablet, so ordering was easy. There is also a Naver Place save-and-review event underway, so keep that in mind if you would like to join.

Along with the main dishes and sets, there were also plenty of side dishes that would go well with a meal. With so many choices, it seemed like a good place for a group to choose according to everyone's tastes.

Cold kalguksu and mushroom kalguksu meal

We ordered two servings of cold kalguksu and two servings of mushroom kalguksu! The basic side dishes came out first: angel-hair jelly noodles, braised potatoes, seasoned chives, white kimchi, and seasoned pickled chili peppers, all neatly prepared.

What came out was enough for us, so we did not have any, but you can help yourself to additional side dishes at the self-serve bar.

Cold kalguksu topped with thin ice

The cold kalguksu had thin shards of ice floating on top, making it look refreshing just to see! Its broth combined beef-bone broth and seafood broth, and the ice made it even more refreshing. It was a cool, clean-tasting broth.

It felt quite different from hot kalguksu, and it would be good not only in summer but also as a special treat.

Mushroom kalguksu generously topped with minari and mushrooms

The mushroom kalguksu came in a clean-tasting broth made with 23 ingredients, generously topped with crisp minari (water celery) and mushrooms! There was plenty of minari and mushrooms in the spicy broth, so it was nice to scoop up the solid ingredients with the soup.

With mushrooms I love and the crisp texture of minari, it went wonderfully with the kalguksu and I enjoyed it. Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch has kalguksu as well as seafood dishes, making it a good place for people looking for seafood and people who love kalguksu to choose a meal.
