Seogwipo Korean eatery, pork cutlet: Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap
In short
Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap is a Korean restaurant in Seogwipo, Jeju. We enjoyed grilled tilefish, abalone-and-sea-urchin seaweed soup, black pork cutlet, and self-serve abalone porridge with our child. A filling family breakfast stop before a day of sightseeing.

Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap: Location and Information
It is on the first floor at 1240 Iljuseo-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, and is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with last orders at 7 p.m. Dedicated parking is available too ✔️

Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap had an annex behind the main restaurant building as well. I am not quite sure what the annex was for, haha, but it was huge, with a really spacious and beautifully landscaped garden. The parking lot was large too, so it is a great place to come without worrying about parking...

I think it would be absolutely beautiful when the flowers are in full bloom. There was a green tangerine tree off to one side, and it was so fascinating to see all the little fruits hanging from it that I had to take a photo.
Inside the Restaurant and the Menu

There is a waiting area by the entrance, plus a little spot selling souvenir snacks. I was curious, so I had a look around too, haha. I was going to buy Jeju mango jelly, but it was made in China, so I did not buy it...ㅠ

The menu has lots of choices: aged-kimchi mackerel ssam-bap (rice wrapped in leafy vegetables) with abalone stone-pot rice for ₩18,000; grilled fatty mackerel with abalone stone-pot rice for ₩18,000; grilled king tilefish with abalone stone-pot rice for ₩30,000; handmade black pork cutlet for ₩15,000; and abalone-and-sea-urchin seaweed soup with abalone stone-pot rice for ₩18,000, among others. There were grilled fish items available à la carte too. Since we had a child with us, I loved that there was pork cutlet! I really wanted the aged-kimchi mackerel ssam-bap, but it required an order for at least two people ㅠㅠ So we could not get it and ordered the king tilefish and sea urchin seaweed soup instead.
What We Ordered

First, the basic side dishes. They were neat and tasty. The kids, as always, loved the roasted seaweed that came with them.

The Self-Serve Bar with Abalone Porridge
This is the self-serve bar! It was set up so you could make wraps to eat with the fish. I did not have any wraps, but my husband enjoyed them, haha. There was japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), too, and what especially stuck with me was the abalone porridge.

I think this was my first time at a restaurant with abalone porridge at the self-serve bar, and it was sooo good,,,, My husband and I each went back for it twice ㅠㅠ But really, it was so, so, so delicious. Abalone porridge really does seem best when it is cooked with the innards. A great abalone-porridge spot in Jungmun, haha.

Handmade Black Pork Cutlet That Got a Thumbs-Up from Our Child
The handmade black pork cutlet came out first, and wow... it was seriously so thick and juicy. Our oldest kept giving it a thumbs-up. It tasted different from an ordinary pork cutlet, honestly. It was all about that thick, real-meat flavor, and my son cleaned his plate because he loved it so much.

Plump Grilled King Tilefish
Next, the grilled king tilefish!!!! It was seriously enormous, haha. The flesh was plump and delicious too. Tilefish is not something you often find on the mainland, so it was nice to have grilled Jeju tilefish again after a long time~

My First Abalone and Sea Urchin Seaweed Soup
Next was the abalone-and-sea-urchin seaweed soup. As the daughter of someone who runs a seaweed shop, I really love seaweed soup and eat it often, but I think this was my first time trying this version. The broth was clear, clean, and refreshing. I only wish the seaweed had been soaked a little longer, but the flavor was still great-great.

Abalone Stone-Pot Rice and Hallabong Juice
Lastly, the abalone stone-pot rice. With abalone, hijiki seaweed, and kabocha squash, it had such a wholesome flavor. It was so nice to have the hot seaweed soup together with hot stone-pot rice.

We ordered Hallabong juice for the kids' dessert. It was a little tart, but rich and delicious, haha. ₩3,000 each! It seemed inexpensive for freshly squeezed juice. I want to drink it again~
A Hearty Family Breakfast in Jungmun
We do not usually eat breakfast, but with the kids and a full day ahead, we wanted to have a proper meal, so we stopped by Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap. We filled up really well and everything was delicious. It is on the road from Jungmun toward Andeok-myeon, so I think it is perfect for breakfast in Seogwipo. We made a reservation and stopped in because it was on our way to O'sulloc and San-yang Keuneonggot!
With tilefish, seaweed soup, and handmade pork cutlet, Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap is one of those Seogwipo restaurants that works wonderfully for a family trip, with dishes both grandparents and kids will enjoy. Please, please make sure to stop by on your Jeju trip~!!
