9:30am opening Korean breakfast in Seogwipo Jungmun: mu-jorim and
In short
Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap is a large Korean restaurant on Iljuseo-ro in Seogwipo, Jeju, open from 9:30am daily. The braised mackerel ssam-bap set came with abalone hot-stone rice and grilled tilefish, plus self-serve side dishes, and the tender braised radish and stone-pot scorched rice were especially good. Worth adding to the list if you want to start your first meal in Jeju with something hearty.

On the day you start a Jeju trip, you want to eat well from the very first meal, right? On this trip too, I went looking for a hearty meal and ended up at Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap in Seogwipo.
It's a place I end up going back to whenever I'm near Jungmun for a first meal, and once again this Jeju breakfast spot didn't disappoint!
Location and access — what time does it open in the morning?
Location: 1240 Iljuseo-ro, 1st floor, Seogwipo-si, Jeju, South Korea — Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap.
Hours: daily 9:30am–8:00pm, last order 7:00pm. No break time, though it may close early depending on ingredient stock.
It's about a 5-minute drive from Jungmun Tourist Complex, about 10 minutes from Daepo Jusangjeolli, and about 15 minutes from Seogwipo Natural Recreation Forest, so it fits well into a Jeju travel route. Finding breakfast in Jeju can be tricky because of opening hours, but this place operates from 9:30am, so it was easy to visit without rushing.
Parking info
The parking lot is huge. You can pretty much say there's no need to worry about parking. There's a large lot right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is quite large, so the parking space felt generous too — good for family or group visits.
Interior atmosphere

The interior is a pretty large restaurant, so overall the space feels wide and comfortable. There's a decent amount of space between tables, making it easy to eat comfortably. It seemed good for a family trip too.
Menu and prices

What we ordered: braised mackerel ssam-bap (mackerel with lettuce wraps) + abalone hot-stone rice ₩18,000 × 2, grilled tilefish ₩28,000. Total ₩64,000.
If you visit before noon, they give you free abalone porridge, so check before you go!
What's on the self-serve bar?

You can also add side dishes from the self-serve bar, so there's the fun of picking whatever suits your taste. Above all, it felt like a really solid way to start the first meal of a Jeju trip, which made me happy haha.

Several basic side dishes come out too, and adding the self-serve bar ones on top of that already made for a feast...👏🏻
- Basic side dishes: stir-fried zucchini, gim (seaweed), kkakdugi (radish kimchi), seasoned bean sprouts, steamed sweet pumpkin, etc.
- Self-serve bar: braised lotus root, cabbage salad, seasoned black soybeans, chae-kimchi, pickled chili peppers, etc.
- There's also jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork) and japchae, so I kept adding a bit of each along the way
There was also jeyuk and japchae, so instead of just eating the mackerel ssam-bap I kept adding little bits of each in between. It's the kind of spread where a bowl of rice disappears fast as you taste your way through the side dishes. Haha.

With everything laid out, the table was so full it looked like the legs might buckle.
Braised mackerel ssam-bap and abalone hot-stone rice

Starting with the braised mackerel — the combo of aged kimchi and mackerel is a familiar one, but it's delicious every single time haha.

The mackerel flesh was quite plump, so there was fun in picking the meat apart with chopsticks, and the aged kimchi was cooked down soft!
And then there's the abalone hot-stone rice that comes with the mackerel ssam-bap! Inside the stone pot there's abalone, tot (sea mustard), sweet pumpkin, beans and more mixed in, giving it a healthier taste than plain white rice.

The braised radish here was especially delicious to me. The radish was cooked down soft and thoroughly soaked in the braising sauce, so there were moments I reached for the radish before the mackerel, haha.
Adding grilled tilefish — how does it taste?

This time I also added grilled tilefish. When you come to Jeju you sort of feel like you have to eat tilefish at least once, right...? Haha. The tilefish is grilled whole with sesame oil brushed on, so a savory aroma really comes through. There's a good amount of flesh too, and laying a bit of it on top of the rice kept me going back for more. Savory plus salty — a dream combo 👏🏻

After eating most of the rice, I poured water into the stone pot to make nurungji (scorched rice) and finished it off properly. A stone-pot rice meal really isn't complete without the nurungji at the end!
Overall thoughts

If you're looking for a good restaurant near Jungmun and specifically thinking about where to have breakfast, this is worth putting on the list. Personally, what I liked was the generous self-serve bar; the restaurant being large enough to feel comfortable; and no break time, so you can eat any time. It was great for visiting when flight timing was awkward.
Above all, it felt good to start the first meal of the Jeju trip so heartily, haha. If I stay near Jungmun on my next Jeju trip, I'm planning to visit again. I've already been here more times than I can count... haha.
