In short

Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) and samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) restaurant near Gaenari Park in Bansong-dong, Dongtan, Hwaseong. On a weekend family visit the order was three servings of samgyeopsal at 200g each for 15,000 won per serving, one serving of kimchi jjigae at 10,000 won and bowls of rice, and the 200g portions were generous. Because every dish at Yangpuni comes by the single serving, it works well when you want pork belly and kimchi stew on one table.

Since it was the weekend, I went out with my family for some good samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) and kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew). Cooking three meals a day on weekends is just too much work, haha. So I went looking for somewhere we could eat out for one meal, and I found a place where you can get both kimchi jjigae and samgyeopsal. It's called Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal, and I'm here to introduce it to you all.

Inside Yangpuni: seating and atmosphere

We walked in right as the break time ended, and there were already customers seated.

The restaurant is pretty spacious, so it seems like a good place to come with a group for a meal. It'd work well for a company dinner or a family gathering — I should recommend it for the next friends' meetup.

Three servings of samgyeopsal, kimchi jjigae and the side dishes

Our order arrived — we'd gotten three servings of samgyeopsal, one kimchi jjigae, and rice.

Bean sprouts, kimchi, garlic, lettuce wraps, and onion came out as the basic side dishes. Grilling the bean sprouts and kimchi together with the pork belly sounded like it would be delicious.

The pork belly looked thick and delicious. That sizzling grilled-pork-belly visual was so satisfying. With garlic tossed on the grill too, the smell of meat hit right in the nose.

How much pork belly is 200g per serving?

Once the pork belly was cut up, it turned out to be quite a lot. This Bansong-dong, Dongtan restaurant, Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal, gives you 200g per serving of pork belly, which is generous compared to other places.

Wrapping it up big with shredded scallion salad and onion, then popping it in my mouth — that savory pork belly chew was so good. Meat is always right, haha.

Adding one single serving of kimchi jjigae

Honestly, Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is known for its kimchi jjigae, and that's actually what I came for — but the smell of samgyeopsal grilling at another table was so good that I ended up ordering pork belly too. Still, I wanted to try the kimchi jjigae, so I added on one serving of that as well.

The kimchi jjigae had meat and tofu in it. Eating it with rice was so good, and it paired really well with the samgyeopsal. Being able to order every menu item in single servings is a big plus, too — perfect for someone like me who loves eating several different things at once. I'd recommend the rest of you check out Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal, the Bansong-dong, Dongtan restaurant where you can enjoy samgyeopsal and kimchi jjigae all in one sitting.
