Gwangalli walk-up: 10-min weekend wait, free corkage — Extra Mile
In short
Extra Mile is a new Italian restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, in a converted house 8 minutes on foot from Gwangan Station. On a weekend lunch visit the writer waited 10 minutes for the Classic Combo (birria taco and hot honey pepperoni half-and-half pizza plus white ragu pasta) and the romesco grilled vegetables. No parking, but free corkage and a coloring mat make it a great no-car outing.

📍Extra Mile The weather finally warmed up this weekend, so my fiancé and I took a little trip to Gwangalli ♥︎ Eating in such a pretty space again felt so good haha This place just opened in Gwangalli, so this is a fresh-off-the-press review — anyone hunting for a good Italian restaurant in Gwangalli, read closely 🪄

8 minutes on foot from Gwangan Station — a walker's stop
Entrance to Extra Mile It's a lovely little Italian spot made from a converted house. It's about an 8-minute walk from Exit 5 of Gwangan Station, and also easy to reach by bus, so it's perfect for a no-car trip! (You're not really supposed to drive to Gwangalli anyway, right?)
10-minute wait for weekend lunch
We arrived right around lunchtime so there was a wait. But there's a waiting area right out front with seating, so we sat comfortably and waited about 10 minutes before being seated. ⭐️ If you really hate waiting, check CatchTable before you go ⭐️ Even though it just opened recently, it's run by the owners of Free Will Pizza, Pickles, and Upper East Bakery, so a lot of people are showing up — which made me even more excited.

They also posted the menu outside the shop, so it was nice to browse and decide what to order while waiting.

A converted house with wood tones — what are the seats like?
The coat hanger right as you walk in is insanely pretty .. isn't it so nice? It was empty because it's hot out, but even empty, the space was gorgeous. In winter it'll be full of coats ☺️

The tables near the entrance feel semi-private, so they'd be great for families or anyone coming with a baby.

There's also bar seating, so bar-seat lovers, this one's for you .. ♥︎ The open kitchen definitely builds trust, and with plants placed everywhere, it's a bar zone that'll drive plant lovers wild.

This is the view of Extra Mile looking in from further inside. Just the picture-perfect wood tone, looking even prettier with the sunlight coming in ✨

The inner section is made up of two-seat tables, but they can be pushed together freely, so a lot of people come here for engagement parties too! It's a vibe women tend to love, so if you throw a party here your friends will probably compliment you on it •´◡`•

And off to one side there's a self-serve station with water, napkins, and pickle refills, so you can grab them easily.

Check the menu photo for reference. (They prepared it in both Korean and English .. nice touch, kudos ..) Now it's time to settle in and read the menu carefully ⏱️ Carefully chose our dishes and finished ordering

A coloring mat while you wait
Extra Mile's cutest feature .. 🤍🪽 Decorating your own personalized placemat They provide outlined illustrations you can color in along with crayons — it's been forever since I've done coloring like this The food arrives while you're still coloring.

My boyfriend went full color, and I kept it simple Even our art reveals our different tastes hahaha Waiting for the food was so fun 🤍 Such a great idea, huge kudos to the owner for the sense of style !!!!!!

They brought out the pickles first — essential when eating pizza
Coke

The Coke came in two ice-filled cups with lemon even added in ..👍🏻 huge kudos
Classic Combo (2-person set): 1 pizza + 1 pasta

With the Classic Combo you can do half-and-half pizza, so you get to pick two flavors ✔️ Birria Taco — beef, cilantro salsa, sour cream ✔️ Hot Honey Pepperoni — pepperoni, mascarpone, ricotta, pickled chilies That's the combo I picked !! You can add cheese crust for ₩4,000 Why did I only just find this out now •• 🥹
The dough was genuinely chewy and delicious — confirmed, this is a real pizza spot in Gwangalli 🍕 The Birria Taco is a taco-flavored pizza that taco lovers will go crazy for It has cilantro in it, so cilantro-haters take note. The cilantro flavor is fairly strong, so if you love cilantro you'll love this one! Hot Honey Pepperoni was my boyfriend's and my top pick Loaded with pepperoni, just the right amount of saltiness and spice — you have to order this one !! Genuinely delicious 🖤

White ragu pasta
You can also choose from four pastas, and I went with the white ragu pasta. It's loaded with ground beef and pork, so meat lovers, this pasta is a must! The noodles were also cooked just right, nice and firm. Eating this made me curious how good the other pastas must be .. 💭🤍
The romesco & grilled vegetables side that felt like the main dish

Grilled eggplant, zucchini, carrot, and sweet pumpkin over a special sauce, topped with a sprinkle of nuts — a side dish that honestly felt like a main Honestly, this is my top pick ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I already love grilled vegetables, but my fiancé, who doesn't even eat carrots, said the carrots here were delicious .. The sauce tasted a bit like Mexicana seasoning, but anyway, it's insanely good, so please order this as a side too ㅠㅠㅠ

((Anyone watching would think the blogger owns this place))

I never eat the pizza crust, but pairing Extra Mile's romesco-soaked grilled vegetables with it was heavenly — you have to try this combo •• A pretty new sunlit restaurant, Extra Mile If you're heading out to Gwangalli and looking for a great Italian spot, I'd recommend this one 🤍
