Gwangalli pizza restaurant weekend wait and cilantro birria pizza
In short
Extra Mile is a wood-toned Western restaurant that recently opened in Gwangalli, Busan. Visiting on a weekend afternoon, the writer ordered the classic combo set for two — a half birria, half potato pizza plus bisque cream pasta — and found the cilantro salsa on the birria pizza surprisingly good even as a first-time cilantro eater. If you're after something more unusual than the usual pizza-and-pasta combo, Extra Mile fits the bill.

A new Western restaurant in Gwangalli, Extra Mile
I visited a newly opened Western restaurant in Gwangalli,

and since it steps outside the usual pizza-and-pasta combo, I wanted to introduce it for anyone looking for a different kind of Western food spot in Gwangalli — I think you'd enjoy it 😄

How long is the weekend daytime wait?
I visited on a weekend afternoon and there was a bit of a wait. If you're planning a weekend visit, I recommend checking Catch Table first‼️ When I went, I didn't wait too long, but it seemed like there could be a line during meal times.

If you're planning your food route in Gwangalli, it's worth checking the waiting situation before heading to this Gwangalli Western restaurant.

Wood-toned interior and crayon tablecloths
Once I was shown in, the interior was wood-toned overall and quite cozy.

There was a bar with 3 seats, and I think there were about 5 tables for four and 2 tables for two. What I personally found fun was the tablecloth —

the paper laid on each table could be colored in with crayons, so the wait for food wasn't boring at all.

Even visiting with babies, this tablecloth would make the wait time fun.
The open kitchen and plants scattered around also matched the wood-toned space well.

What's in the classic combo set for two
I ordered the classic combo set for two, choosing the pizza as a half birria, half potato.

For the pasta, I picked the bisque cream pasta.

I also ordered a Budweiser draft and a Coke Zero to go with it.

Birria pizza — like a taco thanks to the cilantro salsa
First, the birria pizza had cilantro salsa on it, which gave it a flavor reminiscent of Mexican tacos. Actually, this was my first time ever trying cilantro, and thanks to the sauce, I ended up enjoying it more than I expected haha
That said, if you really dislike the taste of cilantro or spices in general, I'd recommend choosing a different menu item over the birria. The hot honey pepperoni and salad pizzas looked pretty tasty on other tables too.

Potato pizza — two textures from sliced and shredded potato
The potato pizza had both potato slices and thin shredded potato on top, so each bite had a crispy texture and a soft potato texture at the same time. The combination of potato and truffle oil was great, and the salty bacon that popped up here and there cut through the richness, so I kept reaching for more.

It had more of a textural highlight than an ordinary potato pizza, making it memorable among the Western dishes I've had in Gwangalli.

Bisque cream pasta — shrimp flavor with gim
I tried the bisque cream pasta too.
From the very first bite, the shrimp flavor came through quite strongly.
It paired really well with the gim (dried seaweed) on top.

The bisque cream itself was already different from the usual tomato or cream pasta, and adding gim on top gave it a distinct Extra Mile feel. It could have felt like a mismatched combination, but each ingredient blended well without feeling out of place, and I enjoyed it a lot.

It was different enough from what you usually find at a Western restaurant that it made me curious what the other menu items would taste like.

Who is this place a good fit for?
Extra Mile sells pizza and pasta, familiar menu items,

but true to the meaning of the name — "going one step further" — I got to try combinations that are hard to find at other Western restaurants. So I think it would suit people looking to enjoy a different kind of Western food rather than the familiar standard.

For me too, among the Western restaurants in Gwangalli, this was a place that made me want to come back and try other menu items.
- ✅ Anyone who wants to try a different kind of Western menu
- ✅ Anyone looking for a cozy Western restaurant to eat at in Gwangalli
- ✅ Anyone looking for an atmospheric Western restaurant that's good for a date
