Gwangalli restaurant for salmon and flounder sashimi: Salmon Brothers

In short

Salmon Brothers is a restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, serving salmon sashimi, flounder sashimi, and pasta. My boyfriend and I had a 300g salmon-and-flounder platter, aglio e olio pasta, and mochi tofu dessert, plus the fun interior and photo spot. Verdict: a satisfying date-night meal in Gwangalli.

A salmon sashimi and pasta date in Gwangalli

While looking for a date spot with a great atmosphere, my boyfriend and I visited Salmon Brothers, a Gwangalli restaurant known for salmon sashimi. From the interior to the food, it was totally my kind of place :)

Walk straight from Gwangan Station toward the beach and you will spot a sign with a cute bear character. Just look for the sign and you will not get lost.

A stylish atmosphere starting on the stairs to the second floor

Even before entering, the stairs up to the second floor were anything but ordinary. Cute Salmon Brothers character posters lined the way up, so my excitement shot up in that short walk alone.

Salmon Brothers entrance certification notices

At the door, there were certificates showing that it had been selected as an outstanding business in the Korea Consumer Industry Assessment for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025), along with a Suyeong-gu, Busan Safe Restaurant certification mark. That made me feel confident about the hygiene and service, too.

A hip, cool dining room

The moment I opened the door, I could tell how much thought had gone into the interior. It had an overall hip, cool mood, with soft lighting, giant teddy bears here and there, and plenty of atmospheric little props to keep my eyes happy.

The restaurant logo was softly lit on the wall, making it a really great spot for photos.

This really felt perfect for a Gwangalli date course. Each table felt private, so it was comfortable to talk, too.

Browsing and ordering from a tablet

Once seated, we browsed the menu and ordered directly from a tablet. There was quite a variety, from salmon, yukhoe (Korean-style beef tartare), and flounder assortments to yukhoe-and-flounder combinations, salmon-specific sake, wine, whisky, and highballs. Along with sashimi, there were pasta dishes too—just the kind of selection you would expect from a good Western-style restaurant in Gwangalli.

Aglio e olio and a 300g salmon-and-flounder platter

We ordered aglio e olio pasta and a 300g half-salmon, half-flounder sashimi platter. The pasta arrived first, and it felt a little different from the aglio e olio I usually have. Perhaps because the garlic had been sautéed almost like it was fried, the sauce had such a rich, nutty garlic flavor. It was really delicious.

The sashimi platter that came next looked visibly fresh. We visited a little late, around 8 p.m., so there was not much flounder left, but the owner sliced us about 100g more salmon. My boyfriend was so happy! For a couple who loves sashimi, it was absolutely our taste. (Thank you, owner~)

I also found out that this place is known for its giant salmon sushi, so it has a reputation as a Gwangalli sushi spot too. I definitely want to try that next time.

One small disappointment, though: I like wrapping sashimi in ssam (leaf wraps), but no wraps or ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) were provided separately. I will have to ask in advance next time.

Bear-shaped ice drinks and salmon-specific sake

We ordered drinks, and they came with bear-shaped ice cubes—so cute and such a fun, different touch. The alcohol was also served in pretty glasses painted with plum blossoms, which made the mood even better.

One special point here is a salmon-specific sake called “Salmon Deshu Junmai,” made to pair with salmon dishes. I did not get to try it this time, but I definitely plan to next time.

Finishing with mochi tofu dessert

For dessert, we ordered mochi tofu. It was my first time trying it here, and its pudding-like soft texture went so well with the brown sugar sauce.

Ordering this was seriously a genius move.

It was a dish we both could not stop praising.

A clean restroom and mirror photo spot

The restroom was kept very clean, and there was even mouthwash available, so we could leave feeling fresh rather than with that lingering after-meal taste.

On the way out, there was a mirror photo spot, so we made the most of it and took photos right until the end.

Final thoughts on this Gwangalli date meal

From the interior and fresh sashimi to the pasta and dessert, there was not a single thing missing from this satisfying place. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a variety of dishes—salmon sashimi, yukhoe, pasta, and sushi—in one place in Gwangalli, especially if you are looking for a date spot. Next time, I will definitely try the yukhoe and Salmon Deshu sake, too!
