Today I finally made it to a café I'd been eyeing on Instagram. I'm a total café addict... cafés are seriously important to me, okay??

A Spain café roundup will probably go up soon too... I travel abroad café-first as well, haha.

The things I care about most are: vibe / signature drinks / good lattes / quiet & cozy / outlets... about that much? My standards for cafés are pretty high, so I always spend like 20 minutes researching before I go, haha.

Today I visited a café I'd had my eye on near Seongshin Women's University — Mudeungdowon (무등도원)! I happened to have an appointment nearby, so I dashed over. Let's get right into the review〰️

Mudeungdowon is a café at 56 Bomun-ro 32-gil, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, near Seongshin Women's University Station and Seongbuk Stream. It's open daily from 9:30am to 7:30pm, with last order at 7:10pm, and parking is available beside the store.

These days when I pick a café, the coffee matters but so does what kind of time I can spend in the space, and Mudeungdowon really lived up to its phrase 'we offer music, coffee, and memories' — a Seongshin Women's University café that fit the description well.

Isn't Mudeungdowon at night gorgeous too? Just looking at the photo gives off a cozy, quiet feeling. This is exactly the kind of café vibe I love.

The baseball jersey discount at Mudeungdowon

Apparently Mudeungdowon offers a discount if you bring in a jersey during baseball season depending on league standings! The owner must be a baseball fan — such a cute idea, haha.

True to its reputation for great music, the café clearly values the time you spend there. It's less a grab-a-drink-and-go kind of place and more one where you can savor coffee while listening to music and chatting with whoever you came with.

Mudeungdowon is a spot where you can enjoy hand-drip coffee, so anyone who genuinely loves coffee will have fun picking from the menu. There's today's filter coffee and a separate filter coffee listed as signature items, plus americano, espresso, and flat white, so you can choose based on your taste.

It's a place with a lot of buzz around how good the coffee is, so anyone near Seongshin Women's University who's wanted to try filter coffee should stop by. Even if you usually default to an americano, it might be nice to occasionally try coffee made differently, like hand-drip or filter.

The cardamom bun is ₩5,600 for one, or ₩20,000 for four. Might as well go for four, right? When you visit a café, you naturally end up looking for a dessert to go with your coffee rather than just ordering a drink, and Mudeungdowon is known for having great desserts too.

This time too, I got to enjoy some time pairing the filter coffee with the cardamom bun.

While I waited at my seat, they brought me a glass of water first. Usually water is self-serve at cafés, so having them bring it over felt like such a nice touch.

The mood at Mudeungdowon: good for photos and conversation

A lot of people visit cafés not just for coffee and dessert but to take photos too. Mudeungdowon is known for being photogenic, and also known as a good place for conversation. It's the kind of spot you'd want to visit when you feel like meeting a friend to chat about this and that, or just relaxing over a cup of coffee. The store being clean and the staff being kind also matters a lot for feeling comfortable staying a while.

The drink and bread I ordered came out quickly.

The cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top doubled the flavor when it mixed in with each bite of bread. I hadn't had a menu item quite like this anywhere else, so it felt refreshingly unique.

Mudeungdowon has outlets scattered throughout the store, so it's great for charging your devices while working. Lots of people work at cafés these days, and since Mudeungdowon is known for its music, the playlist was so good that I got to work without even putting in my AirPods!
