Japanese-style yakiniku with snowflake short rib in Uiwang: Yakiniku
In short
Yakiniku Pungyeong is a Japanese-style charcoal beef grill house near Indeogwon Station on Botdeul 2-gil in Uiwang, Gyeonggi. From a window seat, the writer grilled snowflake short rib, seasoned snowflake short rib, and beef tongue, rounding things out with tonkotsu miso ramen, doenjang jjigae, and a string of free extras including yuzu tomato, cream cheese canapés, and dessert. The marbled snowflake short rib melted in the mouth — a 100% repeat-visit kind of place.

Today I want to introduce a yakiniku spot near Indeogwon Station in Uiwang! This time I visited Yakiniku Pungyeong (야끼니꾸풍경), and honestly, it's been a while since I kept saying "wow, this is actually so good" the whole meal haha.
I've had pretty good yakiniku in Japan too, and to be honest, this isn't even an exaggeration — I felt like this was better than the yakiniku I've had in Japan…! 🥹🥩 From the quality of the meat to the fun of grilling it yourself, plus all the side dishes served alongside, the whole experience was so satisfying that I kept being amazed the entire meal haha.
Today I'll walk you through everything — the vibe of Yakiniku Pungyeong, a yakiniku spot I found near Indeogwon Station, the menu, and the dishes I actually tried! If you love yakiniku like I do, please stick with this post till the end 🥰

When I arrived at Yakiniku Pungyeong I snapped a photo of the storefront first :) Doesn't it already smell like a good restaurant just from the outside? Haha. The exterior has such a Japanese feel to it that even before walking in, I felt like I was in Japan about to eat yakiniku 🇯🇵🥩 Parking is right in front of the restaurant too, so it's convenient if you're driving.
Window seats and the basic table setup
Since we'd made a reservation, we were seated by the window! Sitting there, we could look outside while eating, and the view was actually pretty nice haha 🌿 It was fun watching the scenery while eating, and it made me wonder, "is that why the place is named Pungyeong (풍경, meaning 'scenery')...?" 😂 The seat really matched the name!
The window side seems to only fit about one table, but there are plenty of regular seats too, so you can eat comfortably even without a window seat :)
Maybe because we had a reservation, by the time we sat down the basic side dishes were already neatly set out.

We could order right away by scanning the QR code at the table! No need to flag down a staff member to say the menu out loud — ordering through the QR code was so convenient haha. It was also nice being able to browse the menu and take my time deciding :)

What we ordered
After a long while deciding, we ended up ordering beef tongue, snowflake short rib, and seasoned snowflake short rib 🥩 And since eating just meat felt like it'd be missing something, we also added tonkotsu miso ramen, doenjang jjigae, and rice for the meal course haha. With everything from meat to meal items, we were ready for a proper yakiniku feast.

After ordering and waiting a little, the charcoal came out first! 🔥 The moment the charcoal arrived, my anticipation shot up haha. Just looking at the charcoal made me think, "oh, the meat here is really going to be good..." Now we were finally ready to start grilling haha.

Snowflake short rib, beef tongue, and complimentary yuzu tomato
The snowflake short rib and beef tongue came out first among our orders! 🥩✨ The snowflake short rib's visuals alone were amazing… the marbling was so densely packed that it looked incredible just to look at. And since beef tongue isn't a dish you see often in Korea, getting to eat it again after a while made me extra excited haha. "It's been so long since I've had beef tongue~~" I said excitedly as we got right to grilling haha. The visuals alone had my expectations sky-high... hehe 🤭🥩
They also served us complimentary yuzu tomato to eat alongside the meat! 🍅 I assumed it was just a free side, but once I tried it, it was genuinely a hidden gem haha. Sweet and tangy with a subtle yuzu aroma, it cleansed the palate perfectly between bites of meat! It paired surprisingly well with the meat too, so I was surprised it was this delicious — a complimentary dish that was exactly my taste.

And here's the seasoned snowflake short rib! With the seasoning added to the snowflake short rib, the visuals looked delicious in a whole different way haha. The plain snowflake short rib already looked good, but seeing the seasoned version too made me think, "we're really eating well today, huh?" haha.

You have to try the snowflake short rib
We started by grilling the snowflake short rib.
But seriously, this... it melts in your mouth. 🥹 The marbling was so good that the moment I took a bite after grilling, it just softly melted away… I immediately understood why the menu marked it as a must-try haha. If you visit this place, you absolutely have to try the snowflake short rib! Personally, I highly recommend it as the dish you must order at Yakiniku Pungyeong 👍🏻🥩

Beef tongue with lemon and green onion
Next we grilled the beef tongue! 🥩 Beef tongue definitely needs to be eaten with lemon and green onion...! 🍋 We grilled a piece, dipped it lightly in lemon, and ate it with green onion, and it was so good it nearly brought tears haha. The chewy yet clean-tasting beef tongue, combined with the lemon's brightness and the green onion's aroma, made a perfect combination. Maybe because it had been a while since I last had it, it tasted even better haha.

Tonkotsu miso ramen, doenjang jjigae, and the complimentary dishes
The meal dishes started arriving one by one! The tonkotsu miso ramen and doenjang jjigae we'd ordered to eat alongside the grilled meat showed up too haha. Eating meat non-stop can get a little heavy, but pairing it with these dishes made for a perfect combination! 😋
We also joined the Naver receipt review event! After writing a review, we got to do a draw, and we won 5th prize haha 🎉 The 5th prize was yukhoe gamtae jumeokbap (raw beef and seaweed rice ball)! 🍙💚 This was also completely... delicious haha.

They also gave us complimentary cream cheese canapés! 🧀 Having a side dish like this to nibble on between bites of meat was a nice palate refresher!

Seasoned snowflake short rib and an extra serving of skirt steak
Next we grilled the seasoned snowflake short rib! We had some green onion left over from the beef tongue, so we paired it with the seasoned snowflake short rib, and it was genuinely delicious haha. The seasoned meat with green onion made such a great combo, and eating it with rice added a whole different level of flavor! Putting a piece of meat with green onion on top of rice — yeah, that combo is impossible to resist haha.

By this point, we were already pretty full haha. But the meat was so good, and since this place isn't exactly close to home, we thought, "while we're here, let's have one more thing!" 🤣 So in the end we added an extra serving of skirt steak haha. Even when full, you just can't resist good meat... 🥩🤭
As we were wrapping up the meal, they brought out melon and tiramisu-style dried persimmon for dessert! 🍈✨ The meat was already amazing, but getting dessert at the end made it feel like a truly complete meal haha. Ah... but I did feel a bit of regret that I'd driven that day and couldn't drink haha. The meat here was so good that if I'd had it with alcohol, I probably would have eaten endlessly... 🥹🥩🍺
Final thoughts
By the time we finished eating and stepped outside, it had already gotten dark! 🌙 Yakiniku Pungyeong, which we visited today, was genuinely so, so delicious… every single piece of meat was great from start to finish, and with all the complimentary dishes and dessert on top, it was a truly satisfying meal.
The snowflake short rib especially was so good that I still think about it — I'm 100% planning to come back and pay with my own money next time!
If you ever have a reason to go to Uiwang, I highly recommend stopping by. Honestly, even without a reason to visit Uiwang, I think this place is worth a trip on its own haha. It was such a satisfying day getting to eat really good yakiniku after a long time! 🥩❤️
