Yongsan bunsik spot a 15-minute walk from the station: Hyeonseonine

When you try a place and it's really good, you end up wanting to check out other branches without a second thought, right? I was thinking about what to eat near Yongsan Station and realized Hyeonseonine, which I'd enjoyed before, had a Yongsan main branch — so I went straight there!

Besides tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), gimbap (seaweed rice roll), fried snacks, and fish cake, this is a place where you can get instant tteokbokki and a whole spread of bunsik (Korean street food) menu items at once, so it was great for when I wanted to eat a bit of everything.

Where is Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch? 15 minutes on foot from Yongsan Station

Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is about a 15-minute walk from Yongsan Station. It's not right in front of the station — you have to walk a bit and go into an alley! For first-time visitors, I'd recommend following a map to find it.

Still, it's within walking distance of Yongsan Station, so it's a decent spot for anyone who lives nearby or uses the station often.

How busy is Hyeonseonine at 4-5pm?

I visited around 4-5pm, and even at that hour there were quite a lot of people. I figured it would be a somewhat quiet, off-peak time, but once I got inside, the hall — which is huge — was already about half full.

I was surprised there were more customers than I expected, but since the place is so spacious, it didn't feel overly crowded. There were also plenty of staff, so even with lots of customers, ordering and food coming out was fast. I think that's why every table has its own induction stove — for the instant tteokbokki.

What comes in the Hyeonseonine combo set, and how fast

I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I ordered the combo set. It came with tteokbokki and gimbap of course, plus fried snacks, fish cake, and more — a pretty solid spread. And the portions were generous, just between us haha.

When you go to a bunsik restaurant, just having tteokbokki alone feels like something's missing — you want gimbap and fried snacks too. Ordering the combo let me taste a little of everything at once, which was great. Best of all, the food came out really fast.

Ta-da! With so many people around, I expected the food to take a while, but it came out way faster than I thought. I showed up hungry, and I was happy the wait wasn't long!

Organ-mixed sundae, squid fritters and gimbap packed with filling

Maybe because there were plenty of staff, the overall response felt quick. When it's crowded, orders sometimes get mixed up or food comes out late, but there was none of that frustration here! There seemed to be lung, sundae (blood sausage), and other organs mixed together, and it was delicious! I've always loved liver, and this combination worked really well too.

The fried snacks ranged from vegetable fritters to squid and dumplings — the squid was my favorite! The tteokbokki, need I say more — absolutely delicious. The gimbap is big, packed full of filling, with just the right amount of rice, so you can take a big happy bite!! Haha.

You've got to dip it like this — the flavor doubles~~ The gimbap has sesame oil brushed on so nicely, it tastes way better than just mixing plain rice!

Slushies, fish cake broth refills and leftovers packed to go

Oh right, there were slushies inside the hall, but I never got to try one T_T I kept thinking I'd have it after finishing my meal, but I was too full and forgot. Also, one nice thing about eating in the hall is that they seem to refill the fish cake broth. I saw another table bring their bowl over and ask for more :) The broth has a nice spicy kick~~ haha, if you've had it, you know.

I had a bit too much to finish, so I asked for it to be packed up! They packed it right away, and I reheated it at home — still delicious! So I really do want to come back. Highly recommend.
