Sinheung Market restaurant with the ₩105,000 BTS Meal set: Sugar Hill

In short

Sugar Hill is a Western food and wine restaurant in the Sinheung Market alley of Haebangchon, Yongsan, Seoul. Arriving at dusk, the writer and her boyfriend took a ground-floor seat with the doors thrown wide open and shared the Sugarhill BTS Meal, a ₩105,000 set listed only on the in-store menu: Juju's sous vide steak strips, Bodeumi shell pasta, a mini cheese plate and two Obok cocktails. Both the food and the building were fun to take in, and Sugar Hill is a place she would return to on another date.

Cover photo from a visit to Sugar Hill in Haebangchon

The weather's gotten cooler, and before my boyfriend's semester started I really wanted to visit one place. Haebangchon!!!

Haebangchon at dusk: what the Sinheung Market alley feels like

We'd never properly explored Haebangchon together, so after watching the movie Odyssey at Yongsan CGV's IMAX screen we hopped on a small bus up to Haebangchon haha. We arrived right at dusk and the view was so much prettier than I'd expected... 💕

View of Seoul from a high point in Haebangchon

The view of Seoul from up high and the sky turning pink were so beautiful that just standing in the alley staring at it was pure healing haha.

And then we headed into today's highlight, Sinheung Market haha.

It looks old but hip — small mood-filled restaurants and bars line the market alley, and just like in Europe, lots of people had tables set out on the street sipping wine, so it made me wonder if this was Seoul or somewhere abroad. With the weather being perfectly cool, the whole atmosphere was amazing 💕

While looking around the alley we found a flower shop, and Geonwoo bought me a bouquet haha (bragging). And that's how we arrived at today's destination — Sugar Hill 💕

With its light green facade and orange-toned awning, it looked stylish and exotic even from a distance — FOOD · WINE · WHISKY · MUSIC.

Sugar Hill floor by floor: open-air 1F, private 2F, terrace 3F

Sugar Hill keeps the ground-floor doors wide open, so you can enjoy it almost like an outdoor pojangmacha! The combination of light green and red could easily look tacky, but instead it felt stylish and free-spirited haha.

Open-air style seating on Sugar Hill's ground floor with the doors wide open

If you sit facing outward you get a view of the Sinheung Market alley, so on a nice day just sitting outside with a glass of wine seems perfect >_<

This is the second floor — it's private, perfect for a date or a blind date!

What really surprised us on our tour was the third floor! You can use it by reservation — deep blue walls with orange accents, and we heard the owner personally styled everything down to every frame and small object, which made me want to look even closer haha.

The sofas looked so cozy, and I imagine coming here with a group, listening to music, drinking wine, and talking would feel incredible 💕 There's even a skylight window so it doesn't feel stuffy — total attic vibes!

And stepping outside from the third floor, there's a small terrace haha. The wide-open blue terrace filled with pink flowers genuinely felt like stepping into the movie Mamma Mia... 💙🩷

The owner joked that when a group uses the third floor, pairs sometimes step out to the terrace to drink wine two at a time, calling it the 'truth room.' If you're in a situationship, stepping out there together might just make you fall in love haha.

What comes in the ₩105,000 Sugarhill BTS Meal?

While looking at the menu, the Sugarhill BTS Meal at ₩105,000 caught my eye! I hadn't seen it on Naver's menu listing, but it was right there on the physical menu haha.

It's a set built to be shared between two people!

Description of what's included in Sugar Hill's BTS Meal set

Sugar Hill's founder, Jackie Kwak, works as Executive Producer at the ad and video production company Loudpigs and was involved in McDonald's BTS Meal campaign — the experience apparently inspired her to create the current Sugarhill BTS Meal haha.

Hearing that story briefly made me even more excited for the Sugar Hill BTS Meal — and apparently they give you butter popcorn if you leave a photo review!

Obok cocktail: omija and bokbunja berry

Obok is a cocktail made with five-flavor omija berry and bokbunja (Korean black raspberry) — the color alone is so pretty ❤️

Two glasses of Obok cocktail made with omija and bokbunja

The sweet-tart flavor and aroma of the omija and bokbunja were great, and the alcohol wasn't too strong, so it drank more like a sweet, delicious beverage!

While waiting for the food, we took photos and sipped our Obok bit by bit, and then today's main dishes finally arrived!

The full Sugar Hill BTS Meal spread on the table

With a great cocktail in hand and the table filled with food, night fell over Haebangchon and the mood only got better haha.

Bodeumi shell pasta

Shell-shaped pasta stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese plus spinach haha.

Bodeumi shell pasta filled with cheese and spinach

At first I thought five pieces of pasta might not be enough, but each one was so packed inside that it was more filling than expected~~

A plate of five stuffed shell pasta pieces
Close-up of shell pasta on tomato sauce

It reminded me of the spinach torte I once had while traveling in Europe~

Between the nutty, mild cheese and the bite of spinach, the tang of the tomato underneath kept it from ever feeling heavy, so I just kept eating >_<

Shell pasta topped generously with parmesan cheese

It's piled high with parmesan too, so if you love cheese, I really recommend this dish!!

Juju's sous vide steak strips

Beef slowly sous-vided at low temperature and seared at the end — I was surprised by how tender the texture was!

Can you tell from the photo alone how juicy the inside of the meat is?! The beefy aroma came through nicely and the juices were locked in perfectly haha.

The sauce was just as good as the meat! Their signature soy sauce base with oregano and a generous pile of finely chopped herbs on top made it salty yet fragrant — a bit like pairing it with pickles, never cloying and clean-tasting, really delicious!

Mini cheese plate

The meal ends with a cheese plate~ Three types of cheese, fruit, and Haribo gummies lined up together, and the plating itself was so cute!

A bite of salty cheese, then something fresh, then a Haribo gummy — the remaining Obok cocktail just kept going down smoothly

Cheese plate topped with a purple flower

They told us they added a purple flower on top to mean 'a night of cheering for BTS' 💜 Little details like this are what complete the whole experience! Another memory made at Sugar Hill, complete~

Is Sugar Hill in Haebangchon a good date spot?

If you're looking for a place with genuinely delicious food and a real sense of atmosphere, I'd recommend Sugar Hill in Haebangchon! From the stylish green facade to the half-outdoor vibe that fits so well with Sinheung Market, all the way to the blue-decorated third floor and terrace, there's real fun in just exploring the space itself. And best of all, Juju's sous vide steak and the Bodeumi shell pasta were more delicious than I expected >_< This is a Haebangchon Sinheung Market restaurant I'd love to come back to for another date!
