Boneless angler fish stew for two near Yesulhoegwan Station
In short
Haemokjeong Guwol Branch is a Korean restaurant near Yesulhoegwan Station in Namdong, Incheon, serving ajjim (braised dishes) like angler fish stew and braised ribs. On a weekday lunch with her mom, the writer ordered boneless angler fish stew for two with one bowl of rice, packed with roe and gonyi (fish innards), then finished with cheese-free self-fried rice made from the leftover sauce. Boneless and generous in portion, it's an easy pick for a meal with parents or a group.

A great Yesulhoegwan Station spot for group meals
Hi, this is Choi 😁 Today I went to see a movie at the IMAX theater at Incheon CGV, and while I was at it I stopped by a famous angler fish stew spot in Guwol-dong. The Yesulhoegwan Station restaurant I'm introducing today is Haemokjeong Guwol Branch.

An entrance that feels like walking on the sea, and the interior
The entrance was genuinely amazing!! It really felt like walking along the beach haha. It was so surprising. My mom, who usually doesn't ask for photos, actually asked me to take her picture — asking if it looked like she was standing above the ocean. The entrance alone was so cool.

It was hard to get movie tickets so I took a weekday off to see it, but I was surprised there were so many people even at weekday lunch 😶 Really impressive — it clearly lives up to its reputation. The place seems to have opened not too long ago, and it's very spacious, clean, and well kept. You could tell it was well managed.

At the far end there are also some slightly separated seating areas, plus baby chairs.
Boneless angler fish stew for two: the taste review
You order using the kiosk on the table.

We ordered ✅ boneless angler fish stew (for two) + 1 bowl of rice.

The neat side dishes came out first!! I loved that they included seaweed soup haha — it felt like a special occasion somehow.

Such a gorgeous-looking dish.avi
I thought a boneless angler fish stew would only have the fish meat, but nope — it had roe in it too. So nutty and savory.
There was rice cake in it too, and it was chewy, and paired with the perfectly seasoned sauce it was ㅠㅠ better than tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), maybe?? So good. And there was a ton of gonyi (fish innards) too.
Usually when you order angler fish stew, you get a little bit of fish and a pile of bean sprouts, but Haemokjeong Guwol Branch gives you plenty of boneless angler fish, plus roe and gonyi on top ㅠㅠㅠ Totally generous.
Just grab a piece of the boneless fish, dip it in the soy sauce, and the spicy, savory kick hits right away — such a great combo.

Eating it with rice ㅠㅠ how could it not be delicious. The movie's runtime was 3 hours so I was starving, and this totally satisfied me.

And the perilla leaf combo was seriously.. so refreshing and crisp, and it balanced the spiciness of the angler fish stew really well.
Finishing with cheese-free self-fried rice
Every piece you grab has hearty, plump angler fish meat haha. As planned, we split the one bowl of rice to enjoy with the fish (though honestly, with the big portion, the rice was a bit short..hahaha), then cut up the leftover vegetables and fish meat and got everything ready before ordering ✅ self-fried rice (for one).

I intentionally ordered the version without cheese haha, since I wanted to enjoy it spicy and clean-tasting! We poured the fried rice onto the hot plate and mixed it up using both a spatula and a ladle~~!~

The combo of leftover vegetables and a generous amount of seaweed flakes was so savory, and the spicy sauce was so good that the fried rice turned out really delicious. They also added plenty of flying fish roe, which gave it a nice crunchy texture haha.

It also went really well with a bit of sweet baek-kimchi (white kimchi) on top.

The fried rice also paired wonderfully with the perilla leaves!!
How it was for a meal with parents or a group
I always agonize over where to go when eating out with my parents or older relatives, but overall this was really satisfying. Since it's all boneless, it's easy to eat and the portions are generous, the restaurant is spacious and clean, and the staff were kind with great service. I didn't need parking since transit was convenient, but they even support 2 hours of free parking — totally satisfied.
For anyone looking for a good restaurant in Guwol-dong, Incheon, or a meeting spot near Yesulhoegwan Station, I recommend Haemokjeong Guwol Branch 👍👍
