Songpa steak course date with 10 cuts: Sekaro Steak

In short

Sekaro Steak Songpa Main Branch is a steak restaurant near Ogeum Station in Songpa, Seoul. My boyfriend and I ordered the ₩68,000 World Steak Course for two and kept ordering everything from 10 cuts of meat to salads, pasta, and dessert. Verdict: the room atmosphere, juicy steaks, pasta, sides, and unlimited drinks make it a wonderful anniversary-date pick.

An antique private-room restaurant near Ogeum Station

I do love meat, but I usually need a decent gap between meals. My boyfriend, though, is the incredible sort of person who can eat it today, tomorrow, and the day after that too, hahaha. I found this place because I thought he would absolutely love it. We went in while the sun was up and came out after it had set—and the exterior is even prettier at night, haha.

Inside, there were bar tables and private rooms, and the overall interior was wonderfully antique. Even though we visited at that awkward time on Thursday evening, there were quite a few guests! How does everyone always know about good restaurants and find them like that...

The table was already set, and I loved how elegant every single piece was!

Ordering the World Steak Course and unlimited drinks

Here is the Sekaro World Steak Course menu.

We ordered the World Steak Course at ₩68,000 for two! They showed us the cuts and explained what each one was, so even I, someone who knows nothing about cuts of meat, could order without a problem!

Course with an explanation of the steak cuts

The time limit differs by course, too! The ordering method and tips were clearly written out, and they also explained everything verbally, so it was easy, haha.

One of the best things about the World Steak Course!! Cream draft beer and two kinds of ade were included in the unlimited refills. While eating, I kept thinking, can they really be making any profit here? It already felt so upscale. But unlimited drinks too—are they really making any profit?.. My beer-loving boyfriend ordered it twice!! That means it is good.

A course of sides, from salad to yukhoe

Our first appetizer was the mozzarella cheese salad! I think we ordered it about four times in total, hahaha. It came out so prettily and was just the right amount, which made it so easy to keep ordering! It had cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and broccoli, haha.

The polpo salad we ordered next was also so good that we had it twice! Along with the onion flakes on top, I think there was something inside that gave it a little spicy kick. It became the perfect counterpoint to potato salad, which can get heavy! You will probably eat mashed potatoes with the meat often, but I ate it with this one... Seriously, highly recommended!!

Thick Korean beef tongue, tenderloin, and ggurisal

First up was beef tongue~ The first time I had beef tongue was at a yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo. At first, I worried because the idea of “tongue” can be divisive, and I am someone who is not very good with offal. But I remember being amazed by how it melted in my mouth! Sekaro's beef tongue was not the thin kind I had usually tried—it was truly thick, thick beef tongue! Its moist, springy texture was so charming, haha.

The tenderloin steak and limited ggurisal steak were wow, can you see those juices?.. I really struggle to chew beef that is cooked all the way through, but this melted in my mouth... It was so juicy that I was almost afraid to pierce it with my fork... Ggurisal has such a unique charm, so please make sure you try it! It had a slight crispness that made it appealing, haha.

I had Sekaro's yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) twice too... I really, really love yukhoe! Frozen yukhoe is usually served with seasoning that is very spicy and intense, but this one was more like a slightly sweet sesame-oil sauce, so it went down so easily!! They gave us gim bugak (crispy fried seaweed) and told us it was delicious together, and it really was... A texture genius.

The day we tried all 10 steak cuts

The salchisal came in a big piece, and even that was probably only about two bites for my boyfriend.. haha. I cut off a little to try, and because it had been grilled whole, the juices were truly exceptional!

The oil pasta was amazing because its potential oiliness was completely balanced out, with a touch of spiciness added on top. For someone weak with spice, I took one bite and was huffing and puffing..

The emperor galbisal was seriously the best... How can every cut taste different? ㅜㅜ It was a little thin, so I thought it might not be juicy, but juices were flowing everywhere!

Soy-sauce emperor galbi steak, flat iron steak, and sirloin steak—we really did try them all, remember? We ate all 10 meat selections included in the World Steak Course, so take a look through the photos, haha.

The Korean beef tongue garlic-salt steak was so good that I ate all three pieces myself, hahaha. Usually, when a steak has sauce on it, the seasoning is really strong, right? But this was seasoned just perfectly: a garlic note~ a little salt~ and then that moist, springy beef tongue... I am a beef-tongue addict now, what do I do..

We also had the salchisal garlic-mayo-teriyaki steak and the flat iron steak with demi-glace. If you started with salt, you have to go for sauces next, right? The demi-glace was the familiar kind of sauce we know, but it was not overpowering and completely cut through any heaviness, haha.

It was not all beef—there was one pork dish too! The tonteki steak was delicious meat with even the pork holding onto all its juices... Are there only meat experts here? I suppose there must be... Will you please teach us how to grill like this..

Orders that continued through dessert and pasta

I am the kind of person who cannot live without dessert, truly cannot, so I ordered the panna condà. I actually do not like pudding, you know..? But after eating this panna condà packed with fruit, I can no longer say that I do not like pudding..

The broccoli soup was also so appealing! Such a nice warm soup to settle everything down..

Warm broccoli soup

The garlic bread I ordered! Maybe because they make it to order, the bread was so warm, moist, and soft, and the freshly spread garlic sauce was lovely, haha.

When my boyfriend said that now he was full, he would only have one pasta, I gave up trying to understand him.. He ate deliciously right to the end! The manzo cream pasta had great cream sauce, but it was also full of big chunks of meat and was so tasty! This is a great meat restaurant, but they do pasta so well too—we might need to visit with three times the stomach capacity..

Out of curiosity, we ordered a guava ade at the very end! There were guava and yuja ade options, and you really have to try the guava!! Even while we were talking after leaving, there was a gentle guava scent in my mouth, hahaha.

What is an environmental charge?.. We scraped our plates completely clean, haha. All that remained was a little meat juice..

My overall take for a Songpa anniversary date

The staff were truly kind, and even though it is unlimited refill, the quality of every item was on another level. The entire time I was eating, I kept thinking I wanted to bring my family here later, but then I realized my boyfriend may be the only person who could really get this much value from all that meat..

My boyfriend said that, as a man, there is no man who would not like being brought here, and that I should recommend it to women looking for a great anniversary or date spot, hahaha. The atmosphere is lovely, the food is great, and the drinks and sides are all excellent, so it would be more than worthy of being counted among Seoul's standout unlimited-refill beef restaurants!
