Paju bakery breads before afternoon sellout: Boulangerie Tan
In short
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a takeout-focused bakery in Paju, Gyeonggi. On a third visit at 2:30 PM on a weekday, I found chocolate baguette, plain ciabatta, and black sesame financiers still available. Arrive early—Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch sells out quickly.

The moment I opened the door and stepped inside, the rich, sweet smell of baked goods drifted all through the shop. Just a heads-up: there is no separate dining area inside, so keep that in mind when you visit!

Breads were nearly sold out even on a weekday afternoon
I arrived at around 2:30 PM on a weekday, and true to this popular Paju bakery's reputation, almost all the breads on display had already sold out.

It was so popular that if I had arrived just a little later, I might have gone home empty-handed. Sadly, I could not choose from every bread, but I bought all three kinds that remained: chocolate baguette, plain ciabatta, and black sesame financier!

Looking around the back of the shop, I found a wide range of drinks that would go nicely with the breads. They sell Americano, decaf Americano, café latte, vanilla latte, peach iced tea, Jeju matcha latte, green tangerine ade, and blueberry ade.

The coffee is especially good, so it is nice to enjoy while picking up bread. Fresh coffee beans and jams that pair well with bread are also sold on one side of the shop.

Boulangerie Tan also uses premium French Lescure Charentes-Poitou AOP butter, which adds a deep flavor!

Items such as cornet pie come with dedicated gift boxes, so they would be perfect for gifting, too.

The three breads I took home
The staff told me that the chocolate baguette could be sliced, so they cut it into easy-to-eat pieces for me.

The other breads were neatly packed without getting squashed, which made them easy to carry home!

The long black sesame financier
As soon as I got home, the first thing I wanted to try was the black sesame financier.

Unlike most financiers, which are square, this one was long and easy to eat in one bite. With the first bite, the nutty flavor distinctive to black sesame came through gently without being overwhelming, making it easy to enjoy lightly.

Mild plain ciabatta and chocolate baguette
Next, the plain ciabatta was a long, low-temperature fermented bread made with honest ingredients and no artificial additives. The more I chewed, the more its mild, simple appeal came through, so it was easy to enjoy.

The chocolate baguette was crispy on the outside and moist inside, with an appealing addition of rich chocolate sweetness!

Thanks to the owner's sincerity in creating such deep flavor without chemical additives, I happily finished all three breads!

An Unjeong bakery I keep coming back to
The breads at Boulangerie Tan, a popular bakery in Unjeong, Paju, are made with wholesome ingredients and an honest baking process, so the more I eat them, the more I trust them—and the more often I come back!

Its principle of taking the time needed to make good bread came through fully in the taste, so I think I will keep returning whenever I crave delicious bread.
