Today's review is from a visit to Jowatso Janghowon Gamgok Main Branch, a great restaurant in Icheon, Gyeonggi.

Where is Jowatso Janghowon Gamgok Main Branch, and what are the hours?
Jowatso Janghowon Gamgok Main Branch is located at 25 Seodongdae-ro 8809beon-gil, Janghowon-eup, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are 11:00–22:00, last order at 21:20.

☑️ Groups / takeout / reservations available 🅿️ Parking available

You can park right in front of the store, and there's a large private lot in the back, so group visits are no problem at all.
Inside Jowatso: 4-person tables and the self-serve corner
Here's a look inside Jowatso, a great Janghowon restaurant that works well for family gatherings, get-togethers with friends, or group dinners. The space is genuinely large and comfortable, so it's satisfying no matter who you bring. The tables for four are set up roomy and spacious, which made it a really pleasant place to enjoy the meat.

Near the entrance there's a self-serve corner you can use freely. Utensils, various sauces, and side dishes are all stocked plenty.

🔥 If the charcoal fire feels too hot, don't worry — they've got plenty of portable fans ready for you. The AC was more than enough so I didn't end up using one myself, but the fact that this beef restaurant thinks of its customers like this is a real touching point.

Don't miss the free ground beef to take home from Jowatso
One of Jowatso's special services is the 'ground beef.' If you need some, just ask a staff member and you can take it home. Jowatso is run by a professional cook holding Korean, Western, Japanese, and even pufferfish cooking licenses, and they make their special sauces in-house too, so it's a charcoal beef rib restaurant you can trust even more.
Ground beef is surprisingly useful for cooking, and it's pretty amazing that Jowatso gives you meat AND free ground beef on top haha. It would've been great in fried rice, seaweed soup, or hamburg steak, but I forgot to grab it. If you visit, make sure to take some home.

The 4-person tables were roomy, making this a wonderful spot for a family meal. Utensils, cups, and wet wipes are already set on the table, and you order via kiosk.

Jowatso menu and prices: à la carte beef cuts instead of the platter
🐂 Jowatso lets you enjoy a wide range of beef with great value. It's not just cheap meat — they hold to strict standards and refuse to use any beef that doesn't meet them, which is how they can offer high-quality beef at an affordable price.

Jowatso's signature menu, the 'special-cut platter,' lets you taste the top-grade special cuts all at once — woodae rib, flower cut, rib meat, and flat iron. It's a whopping 850g of beef for ₩89,000. Another popular combo is the 'beef rib platter,' which lets you enjoy two kinds of rib meat at once: plain ribs for the meat's natural flavor and sweet marinated ribs.
☝🏻 I'd really recommend trying the combo platters for great value in variety. But I went with individual à la carte cuts since the platter portions were too much for me.
- Beef rib meat × 1 ₩19,000
- Flower cut × 2 ₩56,000
- Cold noodles (mul-naengmyeon) ₩6,000
- Doenjang stew + rice ₩4,000
- Garak udon ₩6,000

Once you order, they trim the meat right in front of you and bring it out, along with plenty of side dishes and lettuce wraps for the hot charcoal fire, sushi rice for making beef sushi, and another free service — unlimited spicy beef hangover soup!! 👍🏻 The table filled right up.

How did the beef rib meat and flower cut taste?
⬆️ Left: fresh beef rib meat, 1 serving, 180g / Right: flower cut, 2 servings, 360g ⬆️
The moment it hit the hot charcoal, ⚡️ sizzle ⚡️ — the sound of meat cooking was so satisfying to hear haha. The fresh beef rib meat is rich in juice and deeply savory. It's chewy in texture and not overly fatty, so it stays clean and lets the beef flavor shine through. The first bite dipped in salt was great, it paired well with lettuce wrap and pickled perilla leaves, and a piece of pickled chili on top gave a refreshing finish.
The flower cut, known for marbling that spreads like snowflakes, is savory thanks to the great marbling, with juice spreading moist through every bite. The rich fattiness and tender texture just melt away in your mouth. 😋 Grilled on charcoal, it picked up smoky flavor that made it even richer.
With the rice provided for making sushi, just a dab of wasabi and a piece of flower cut on top — done!! Is there any meat sushi more delicious than this haha? There's fun in both eating it and making it yourself~ 😁

Garak udon and mul-naengmyeon: the rice and noodle dishes at Jowatso
Jowatso has just as many meal options as meat dishes. My little one's favorite is garak udon (thick wheat noodle soup), so I ordered it — cheap and genuinely delicious. Ordering garak udon also gets you red pepper flakes and pickled radish on the side.

I ordered a cool, sweet-and-tangy mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). The noodle portion was generous, with radish, cucumber, boiled egg, and even a slice of pear — perfect. The clean, refreshing broth went great with the meat, cutting through any richness and leaving my mouth feeling fresh.

A beef restaurant near the Janghowon Peach Festival in Icheon
Janghowon is famous for Haetsare peaches, and I hear the Peach Festival runs September 18 (Fri) to September 20 (Sun). If you're around, stop by Jowatso, a great Janghowon beef restaurant, too~
