I had no idea there was a bakery with this much variety near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station. I stopped by BYWAY BAKERS in Dangsan-dong. From outside, the red logo catches your eye first, and inside, wooden shelves are packed tight with bread while more is being made in the back.

What stood out most was that they post the exact times bread comes out. Show up at the right time and you can catch it fresh! I'll walk you through it for anyone hunting for a good bakery near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station.

BYWAY BAKERS in Dangsan-dong is a different scale entirely

Even from outside, it looked considerably bigger than a typical neighborhood bakery. A wood-toned facade with a single red logo made it easy to spot.

Once inside, a long row of wooden shelves stretches on, and there was far more bread than I expected. Basics like bagels, croissants, and baguettes sit alongside a full lineup of baked snacks — financiers, madeleines, egg tarts.

I thought I'd seen it all after one side, but there's more in the back, more on the side... If you love bread, you'll need some real time to make a full loop of this place.

There's a set time for each kind of bread

The fun part was that the weekend bread schedule is posted right at the entrance. Salt bread starts coming out at 9am, baguette and olive focaccia at 10am, bagels at 10:30am, Shanghai butter rice cake and cakes at 11am, and wakppu yogurt items at 11:30am — definitely worth checking before you go.

There's genuinely so much bread

Once I started really browsing, the decision-making got hard. The croissants were baked up nice and big, and the bagels ranged from plain to cheese-topped. There were sandwiches too, so it'd work fine as a quick meal stop.

The egg tarts and financiers also caught my eye — salty financier, fig financier, pistachio financier, aged cheese financier, so many kinds I wanted to grab one of each. Add lemon madeleines and chocolate-topped bread to the mix, and you end up just lingering in front of the shelves. If you're after a Dangsan-dong bakery where you can see a huge range of options in one place, just browsing here is already pretty fun.

Cakes and yogurt salt bread too

There's a separate showcase, and it's just as dazzling. New York cheesecake, real chocolate cake, tiramisu — slice cakes — plus fruit-topped cakes. What really caught my eye were the ones using peach and fig. I also spotted trend-driven items like Dubai chocolate salt bread and Dubai chewy cookies.

The real showstopper, though, is this wakppu salt bread. The famous wakppu salt bread everyone's been talking about!! I went with the blueberry yogurt wakppu salt bread.

Great for packing to go, too

It looked well suited for gifting or takeout too. There were separate 2-slot and 5-slot boxes plus bread boxes, and plates were set out so you could use whatever you needed. With so many options, it'd be easy to pack a mix for the family or box up an assortment of baked snacks.

Unlike small bakeries that make roughly the same handful of items every day, seeing bagels, baguettes, croissants, baked snacks, cakes, and seasonal menus all in one place felt like BYWAY BAKERS' biggest draw.

Eating it right away!! My first wakppu salt bread, and my expectations were maxed out.

That crackly crunch sound was great, and the tangy yogurt flavor was really, really good!!!!
