For parking, I'd suggest the lot near Hwayang Police Substation or the Dongdo Centreville pay parking lot.

Even though it's not a private room, every table at Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch has a partition, so it felt like talking in a fairly private space — a really comfortable atmosphere for eating and chatting. With a cherry blossom tree adding to the mood on top of the good vibe already found in this Konkuk-area bar, it made for a great date spot.

Alongside individual dishes, there are set menus combining several items, so there were plenty of options. On top of that, the menu was full of good-value picks, which I imagine college students would love haha. It kind of took me back to my own school days,,🤍 Both the menu lineup and the prices were satisfying, so I could order a full spread without worrying about the bill at Yukhoe Gongjakso.

Free-flow beef and egg soup served with every table

The warm broth that comes as a default side was seriously rich. The beef and egg soup, made with a beef bone broth base, was the kind of side dish I kept reaching for — and it came with unlimited refills.

Drinks, highballs and the half-price sake

What comes in the yukhoe and salmon half-and-half set?

We ordered the set made up of raw beef, salmon, yakiniku, skewers, a highball, and rice balls. Rice balls and a highball kicked things off in style!

The rice balls were mixed with finely chopped pickled radish, a salty-savory sauce, and a generous handful of seaweed flakes, all mixed together by hand — savory and filling enough to count as a real meal on its own. It was the kind of rice ball that really opens up your appetite, and it went great alongside the yakiniku that came next.

We ordered the set split half raw beef and half salmon — and since this isn't the kind of dish a bar throws together carelessly, it was raw beef made with Australian clean beef butchered before dawn, paired with a thick, umami-packed platter of salmon.

Every dish had a certain neatness to it, and alternating bites of raw beef and salmon made the meal more fun and kept the flavors interesting throughout — a really satisfying set menu at Yukhoe Gongjakso.

Grilling the yakiniku and skewers on the tabletop brazier

For the yakiniku, they brought a charcoal brazier right to the table so we could grill each piece ourselves, which I loved. The skewers came alongside the yakiniku, and even though the brazier was small, it had strong heat, so grilling piece by piece didn't take long — everything cooked up quickly.

Both the yakiniku and skewers included in the set could also be added separately as individual orders. We loved the chicken skewers so much we added an extra order on top. As a budget-friendly Konkuk-area bar, adding extra individual dishes doesn't strain your wallet much, so feel free to order whatever you're craving.

It had been a while since I'd had a night like this — relaxed conversation in a great atmosphere to wrap up the day, and it was genuinely fun. The music and chatter at a comfortable volume weren't distracting at all thanks to the private booth setup — if anything, they lifted the bar's atmosphere even more. Yukhoe Gongjakso near Sejong University was a great spot for both a date and solo drinking.

Adding chicken skewers as a side order

The chicken skewers we added separately came three to an order! For around ₩5,000, we got to add them on and grill them ourselves right over the brazier — very satisfying.

The yakiniku had a light soy marinade that wasn't too salty, which made it taste even better once grilled over the brazier. No extra sauce was needed — grilling it and eating it just as is was perfect. Cooked lightly over direct charcoal flame, it came out incredibly tender.

Is Yukhoe Gongjakso worth a visit?

With a generous set menu for the price and a great atmosphere, Yukhoe Gongjakso Sejong University branch is well worth visiting if you're looking for a bar near Konkuk University Station. It's close to both Children's Grand Park Station and Konkuk University Station, so if you're after a date spot or a solo-drinking spot near Konkuk, I'd recommend Yukhoe Gongjakso.
