Pohang sushi restaurant with a lavish set spread: Domo Sushi

In short

Domo Sushi is a sushi restaurant in Idong, Pohang, Gyeongbuk, that serves a generous array of complimentary dishes with sushi orders. I had the 10-piece Domo Assorted Sushi and beef brisket udon, with thick fish toppings and enough food to leave me completely full. Verdict: a satisfying sushi meal with a Korean set-menu-level spread.

Domo Sushi in Idong, Pohang: Visit Information

Hours are 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM, and the restaurant is closed on Mondays. Be sure to check the hours and closing day before visiting.

There is room for three cars right in front of the restaurant. Parking at a nearby public lot and walking over would work well too.

The aquarium in front of the restaurant was clean, and there were big, fresh live flounder swimming around.

The takeout packaging was neat too, and they seemed to have a huge number of delivery orders at lunchtime. Lots of people come for company dinners in the evening, so reservations are essential.

There are private rooms, so you can have a meal in privacy. They also have baby high chairs, so it seems like a good place to bring little ones.

You can also order tuna sashimi on its own, so it would be nice to have it as a drinking snack at a company dinner or gathering.

They have quite a variety of alcoholic drinks too. Since plenty of dishes come out automatically with a sushi order, this seems like a great place to have sushi with a casual drink.

The Generous Complimentary Spread Before the Sushi

Look at how generous the complimentary side dishes are before the sushi even arrives.

The seasoning on the hoe-muchim (spicy dressed raw fish salad) was delicious, and the fried items and corn mayo were freshly cooked, so they were even better while warm. There was tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), bulgogi, salad, and soy-marinated crab too—such a genuinely generous and varied spread.

I couldn't believe yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) came as a complimentary dish at a sushi restaurant! The seasoning had that lovely sweet-salty balance, and the meat was good quality too. Next time, I need to come back for the Korean beef yukhoe.

Have the Beef Brisket Udon Too

The beef brisket udon is ₩10,000. When I come to a sushi restaurant with a child, we usually have a little side udon or inari sushi, but at Domo Sushi, you also get bulgogi, fried food, and corn mayo. The beef brisket udon had chewy noodles and plenty of fish cake, while the broth was clean yet richly meaty, so it went down really well. Hot broth pairs wonderfully with sushi, so udon lovers should definitely try the beef brisket udon too.

The fried item was a potato croquette. So tasty dipped in honey mustard, haha.

The hoe-muchim and soy-marinated crab were deliciously seasoned too. At most sushi restaurants, you get something simple like salad, udon, sushi, and fried food, but Domo Sushi laid out complimentary dishes that were almost at the level of a Korean set menu, which made me even happier.

What Comes With the 10-Piece Domo Assorted Sushi

Domo Assorted Sushi is ₩18,000.

They also served warm jang-guk (clear soup). Refills are available, so slurp it up while it is hot, then get another bowl.

From the left, there were flounder, salmon, flounder, tuna, shrimp, flounder, shrimp, beef, eel, and beef brisket—10 pieces in all. The glossy fish toppings looked absolutely mouthwatering, right? They were thick and generously sized, enough to really fill your mouth in one bite.

Both the raw shrimp and lightly cooked shrimp sushi were neatly prepared.

Salmon sushi is my absolute favorite, and Domo Sushi's salmon was so large and thick that it completely covered the rice; it simply melted in my mouth. It looks delicious just from the color, doesn't it?

As I savored the beef sushi, beef brisket sushi, and eel sushi one piece at a time, I ended up completely full.

After polishing off the 10 pieces of sushi for ₩18,000 along with the complimentary yukhoe, hoe-muchim, marinated crab, salad, fried croquette, corn mayo, and tteokbokki, the fullness was no joke. With prices the way they are these days, I don't think there is another sushi restaurant that gives you this much for the price.

The maesil-cha (plum tea) they served for dessert was refreshing and perfect for cleansing the palate.
