Paju café by Imjingang Station: cream mocha and fresh fig croissant

On the Rail is a café by Imjingang Station near Imjingak, and it's one of those Paju drive-course cafés with real atmosphere. A drive to Paju near Seoul~ After walking around Imjingak Peace Nuri Park, I had a fun café date at On the Rail near Imjingang Station, with a delicious cream mocha and fig croissant.

The café is really right next to the train tracks, and after visiting I understood why everyone recommends On the Rail as a Paju outdoor café and late-night café.

On the Rail is located at 25 Imjingang-ro, Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open Mon–Sat 11:00–02:00, and Sundays 11:00–24:00.

If you're driving, heading toward Imjingang Station and entering through the railway crossing will bring you right to the café. Following the navigation, you might think 'wait, this is a railway track' — but you just drive through. Since it really is an active railway crossing, it's best to enter slowly, and there's a large parking lot that makes things convenient.

Inside On the Rail: floor-to-ceiling train views and an outdoor garden

With a white-and-wood base and plants and props placed throughout, the space felt cozy rather than plain. The tables were also spaced generously, so I could chat comfortably without worrying about neighboring seats.

The high-ceilinged interior was surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, giving a great sense of openness, and you could watch trains pass by outside — the outdoor garden space was also really well put together.

What's in On the Rail's bakery showcase?

In the refrigerated display case were plump financiers, fresh fruit tarts, fig croissants, and spoonable cake boxes — everything looked so appetizing and pretty that it was hard to choose.

Salt bread, croissants, mont blanc, scallion cheese toast, garlic sticks and more were laid out — a wide variety, and every one of them looked good.

How do the cream mocha and fig cream croissant taste?

I ordered On the Rail's signature drink, the cream mocha (₩7,500), and a fig croissant topped with seasonal fresh figs. The moment the drink and pastry arrived, I was surprised by how nicely the coffee was decorated.

On a rich chocolate base sat a generous layer of soft cream — it wasn't heavy or artificially sweet, more thick yet clean-tasting going down, so I enjoyed it a lot.

The big croissant was cut in half and filled generously with cream, then topped with fresh figs and fresh blueberries on top of the cream — the fig cream croissant looked so pretty I had to take photos first.

The subtly sweet cream combined with the fig's soft texture and the little crunch of its seeds kept me reaching for more, bite after bite. It wasn't overly sweet, and the fig's natural sweetness came through, so it paired nicely with the cream mocha without feeling like too much.

I'd recommend this café near Imjingang Station by Imjingak in Paju for a drive-course date not far from Seoul.

If you're planning an outing to Imjingak or a drive around Munsan, I'd recommend stopping by On the Rail as a halfway break. During the day you get a green garden and railway-track views, and at night, a totally different mood with lighting and a fire pit — I'm planning to go back once the season changes.
