In short

On the Rail is a bakery café on Imjingak-ro in Munsan-eup, Paju, Gyeonggi, open until 2am. Arriving late on a drive with our dog Gamja, we took a seat on the pet-friendly outdoor terrace and ordered iced chamomile at 6,000 won, yuja (citron) tea at 6,000 won and a toffee nut latte at 6,500 won. If you want a Paju café that stays open late and lets you sit outside with your dog, the terrace at On the Rail is the answer.

I was looking for a café in Paju open late into the night, and figured I'd combine it with a drive, so I headed to On the Rail. Even though I got there late, the café was running at an easy, relaxed pace, and there was a surprisingly good variety of bread and cake still left, which I loved. Best of all, the outdoor space is pet-friendly, so I got to sit comfortably with my dog Gamja and just enjoy the time. Here's the review!

Inside On the Rail at night

Walking into this late-night Paju café, the space felt bigger than I expected. The tables were spaced generously, so it never felt cramped, and plants placed throughout gave it a nice natural feel. Since I visited at night, the lighting was soft and dim, giving it a completely different mood from what it probably has during the day.

What bread and cake are left late at night?

One thing I really liked was that even at that late hour, there was still a wide variety of bread and cake left. Usually when you visit a café late, the bakery case has been picked pretty clean, but On the Rail had way more variety than I expected.

On one side there was even an oven and microwave set up so you could warm your bread, plus a dedicated packing area, so it looked easy for people who wanted to take bread home instead of eating in.

The outdoor terrace and train-track photo spot

This late-night Paju café has an outdoor space, so on nice days like this one, it seems perfect for sitting outside with a coffee and just taking it slow.

And you can't talk about On the Rail's outdoor area without mentioning the train-track photo zone! There's a photo spot set up along train tracks in the outdoor space, great for pictures, and visiting at night made it even prettier with the surrounding lights added in.

Sitting on the terrace with our dog Gamja

Since I came with Gamja, we sat outside. On the Rail lets you bring your dog into the outdoor space!

I picked the iced chamomile so I wouldn't worry about caffeine that late at night, and the subtle floral scent was lovely and clean to drink.

The toffee nut latte was nutty and sweet.

And last, the yuzu tea had a sweet, tangy yuzu aroma and was really nice to drink warm 🧡

Is On the Rail worth it as a late-night, dog-friendly café in Paju?

This time I visited this late-night Paju café combined with a nighttime drive! Visiting at night, I loved how quiet and relaxed the atmosphere was. I especially liked having an outdoor space where I could bring my dog, and I got to spend some really good time with Gamja 🐾🤍
